According to PFT and other sources, Leon Washington has signed with the team, after a brief tryout today. In order to make room for him, return man Devon Wylie, along with the recently signed Kevin Matthews (with whom we had a previous relationship) was released from their team duties.
Leon Washington, previously of the New England Patriots this year is a proven special teams ace and even better, not considered a giant liability on offense like the Titans' previous return men. He might find a familiar face in Nashville in Kamerion Wimbley since they were teammates while at Florida State University.
While not expected to recapture lightning in a bottle as he's proven to do at his previous stops, he is expected to shore up the glaring weakness that is the Titans return game. Washington will provide a likely steady veteran hand where Darius Reynaud and co. have miserably failed. Devin Hester he isn't but heck, anything resembling NFL quality special teams play is all that's required.
