Alabama has been caught playing player Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, probably the top rated S in the 2014 draft, if he leaves a year early. Now the question is will Alabama get the "death penalty", the stiff penalty that UNC got, or the Manziel "white wash"?
Clinton-Dix was suspended yesterday (Oct. 2nd), while strength and conditioning coach Corey Harris was placed on leave today. The story so far seems to be that coach Harris gave (they claim it was a loan) Clinton-Dix a sum of cash (claimed to be under $500.00), and that Clinton-Dix has provided his bank records to show a withdrawl in that amount, claiming it was used to repay the "loan". It has also been reported that coach Harris has "a connection to a sports agent".
So far this all sounds very reminiscent of what happened at UNC a few years back, when it was discovered that one of the coaches on UNC's staff was acting as a "runner" for a sports agent. The UNC mess ended with around 4 players being perminately suspended by the NCAA, a playoff ban, loss of scholarships, the head coach and his staff being fired, and some legal actions against the offenders.
So, now back to the questions of what happens next, and in the long run? I don't think the NCAA would ever hit Alabama with the "death penalty", or even a UNC like penalty, though it could if more news of cash to players surfaces. I expect a Manziel like "white wash"/"slap on the wrist", and it's already been stated that if the amount really is under $500.00, Clinton-Dix may only face a couple of games suspension.
Could this grease the slide out to Texas for Saben?
Will this cost Clinton-Dix the rest of the season (or part of it), and force him to enter the 2014 draft?www.nationalfootballpost.com/Alabama-choach-placed-on-leave-for-providing-cash-to-ClintonDix.html
