Projecting the rest of the Titans schedule

Sideline fire - Frederick Breedon

The Tennessee Titans will probably need to finish at least 10-6 to make the playoffs. That means they have to go 7-2 down the stretch. Can they do it?

The Titans schedule really does get considerably easier after the break. It is by no means a cakewalk, but there is only one game in my mind where the Titans are over-matched- @ Denver. The Titans shouldn't be more than a touchdown underdog in any of the other games.

Here is how it has to go:

  • The Titans absolutely have to take both from the Jaguars. That sounds easy, but don't forget that this team was 9-7 two years ago with one of those losses coming against a winless Colts team in week 15.
  • They also have to win the rest of their non-division, non-Denver games. Those games are @ St. Louis, @ Oakland, and vs. Arizona.
  • They have to beat the Texans at home in week 17.

Finally, they have to split with the Colts. If they are able to accomplish that they will finish 10-6. That doesn't assure them the final wild card spot (the Broncos or Chiefs are getting the first one), but that would put them in a really good position.
