The safety pool, in which the Titans should take multiple dips in, just got a little bit deeper.
LSU safety Eric Reid has decided to forego his senior year at LSU and enter the NFL Draft. The Titans need as many quality safeties in the NFL draft as possible, so it is good news to see that Reid will be out there. Much like Matt Elam, Reid is not a guy that is going to go early in the draft, but he is a guy that could come in and make an impact right away.
Reid was a first team All-American safety this past season. Here are his stats this past season from the official LSU site:
In his final season with the Tigers in 2012, Reid started all 13 games and finished third on the team in tackles with 91. He had seven pass breakups, two pass interceptions, one tackle for loss and recovered a fumble for an LSU defense that ranked among the best in the nation.
Hopefully Ruston Webster is already doing his homework on this guy.
