This is a big year for Derrick Morgan. When he was drafted with the 16th pick two years ago, we all had high hopes for what he could do. He was playing well in his rookie season before he was lost for the year to an ACL injury in week 4.
He could never quite get it right in camp last season, and ended up having a scope right before the season started that held him out of the first game. Morgan only ended last season with 2.5 sacks, but you could tell he was starting to play a little bit better as the season went along. That gave us hope for this season.
Well some of that hope is slowly slipping away with the news the last couple of days that Pannel Egboh has been taking snaps with the first team while Morgan works with the second team. The Titans are already thin at defensive end even if Morgan is good. They are terrible at end if he is not good.
While it is still too early to push the panic button, it is time for Morgan to step up and produce. He is now two years removed from the ACL surgery.
I will be out at practice today and will keep an eye on the rotation at defensive end.
