My wife and I attended the game last night. Well, the first half, anyway. I was looking forward to seeing the changes to the stadium. On the whole, we both were pleased.
The new sound system is an infinite improvement over the old super-woofers in the south end. Much, much, much clearer. Still too loud, but that probably won't be as noticeable when the place is full. Some glitches with random sound bites interrupting the field announcements. But overall, a great upgrade.
The new jumbotrons are also great. HUGE, with tremendous clarity. Several times, I found myself watching the screens instead of the field. (A mistake, as I have a great whole-field view from sec. 314).
The new ribbon boards looked nice, but were used mainly for advertisements. I assume that during the season, when other games are being played, they'll be used for information. If so, great. If not, ho-hum.
We didn't try the express elevators at the south end, but I suspect that they'll be a good addition. For one thing, they'll eliminate the huge end-of-game jam at the old elevators, which made it a bitch to leave.
There are also improved food and beverage options on the third deck. I don't usually buy food at the game, but for those who do, the choices are better. Beer prices have increased to $8 for Bud/Coors, $10 for actual beer, up a buck from last year.
Best improvement I could see, though was on the field. Our D-Line and C-Mac were beasts.
