We are currently working our way through the state of the Titans roster. Today we look at the safeties. We previously looked at QB, RB, WR, TE, OT, OG, C, DE and DT.

When the season ended we had no idea who the starting safeties would be in 2012 because both Jordan Babineaux and Michael Griffin were unrestricted free agents, but both guys were re-signed. The problem is the Titans have zero proven depth behind those guys. Don't be surprised if they add a guy when guys start getting cut during/after the preseason.

Click through the jump for a more in-depth look at the safeties currently on the Titans' roster.

MICHAEL GRIFFIN
Age:
27
Contract: Just signed a new five-year deal

The Titans showed faith in Griffin by going ahead and giving him a long-term deal. Jerry Gray is obviously very high on him. Hopefully he will reward the Titans with some consistency this season.

JORDAN BABINEAUX
Age:
29 (turns 30 in August)
Contract: Signed a two-year $3.2 million deal this offseason

Babs was solid for this team last season. He was not an all world safety by any means, but he seems to always come up big at the most important times. He should be even better this year after having a full offseason to work with Gray.

ROBERT JOHNSON
Age:
25
Contract: Entering the second year of the three-year deal he signed last year

This is a big year for RoJo. As of right now, he is the next guy up if one of the starters gets hurt. He hasn't shown anything to prove that he is ready for that yet.

MARKELLE MARTIN
Age:
22
Contract: Signed a four-year $2.7 million deal

Martin actually has a pretty high ceiling, but he is still battling a couple of injuries that he has suffered since the college football season ended. He is a long-term project, so don't expect anything from him this season.

The Titans will also bring Al Afalava and Christian Scott to camp.
