If you could not tell from the headline, I am getting very anxious for the new season to get here. Every passing day it is getting closer to kickoff, but it just is not fast enough. I'm not sure if I'm the only one effected by the "Lack of Football Disease" (or more commonly known as LFD). If you think you may be effected by this you should talk to someone ASAP, or at least post a comment. I will spell out some of the symptoms after the jump.
Some of the symptoms include (but are not limited to)
1.) Searching MCM or other teams blogs endlessly.---this symptom can get so bad that you almost feel compelled to go to another team's blog and read about football because you have read everything on MCM 3 or even 4 times and are still not able to get enough in a single days time.
2.) Constant watching of NFL Network 24hrs. a day, even while dealing with symptom number 1.---this symptom now effects everyone in your household because you are taking up the big TV in the living room so you can easily read the crawler along the bottom of the screen for even the slightest info the the Steelers and Ravens have shot off each others knee caps and we will never be plagued by the stupid song "Black and Yellow" or meet the Ratbirds in the playoffs again, just saying. Heaven forbid the one that changes the channel to "Teen Mom 2" as you could easily become angry and throw things (even the smartphone you were reading the fan posts on).
3.) Finding yourself turning every conversation you are involved into something to pertaining to football or using football realated wording even with people that have no clue what a "Smash-7" route is.
4.) Painting your garage in "Two toned blue" and spending your grocery money bidding on Jake Locker rookie cards listed on eBay, CraigsList, sportsmemorabilia.com, etc., etc.
5.) Planning your fantasy draft strategy 4 months in advance and taking notes everyday on who has had surgery or has been injured vs. how long the rehab time is.
6.) Playing the most current Madden NFL game on your xbox set up on the smaller TV next to the big one inthe living room 25hrs a day (when not working) and spending countless hours adding in all the rookies from the latest draft, as well as, making all the latest trades to the rosters after the last online update to the game is over and done with after the Superbowl week. (all the while ignoring your wife and kids)--c'mon, like you didn't already do that---lol
These are just a few of the symptoms that accompany LFD but are not the only ones. They can really wreak havoc in the offseason and the symptoms often get worse as it drags on and on, and on, and on...The only time of year you can diagnose LFD is the offseason because you are always scrounging for football and less and less becomes available. Now during the season, all is right in your universe and it makes it less apparent to family and friends as there is plenty of content to fill your day and night, but don't think you are not affected, as you are just feeding your addiction, therefore it will just be worse on you next offseason.
If you think that you may be affected by this horribly AWESOME disease then god bless you and know that you are not alone out there. There is at least me in this universe of complete football 367 days a year.
Just a few quick thoughts off the top of my head. Thanks for reading folks.
