Has been long time ago when Mike Munchak protected to Warren Moon, that's old days the Oilers used the "Run & Shoot" offense. Now a days the Titans will implement "Run & Shot" offense or at least they go to try.
Maybe that is the reason why they chose a WR with their 1st pick at the Draft ,(and) maybe that is the reason why they won't sign Ahmard Hall (Fullback).
Here the question: Is current roster better than Oilers from 1993 ?
Let's go to analyze position by position :
QB
Titans: Matt Hasselbeck , Jake Locker
Oilers: Warren Moon
This is easy,Warren Moon is a Hall of Famer, Hasselbeck no. I hope that Locker pan out and bring some rings to town.
RB
Titans: Chris Johnson
Oilers: Gary Brown, Lorenzo White
Another easy, Gary Brown has a total of 4300 yds. for career and Lorenzo White has 4242. Chris Johnson has 5,645 with 4 years in National Football League.
Chris Johnson is a great RB and he is much better back than Oilers' backs, probably he's gonna build a Hall of Famer career
WR
Titans: Kenny Britt, Nate Washington, Kendall Wright, Damien Williams, Jared Cook
Oilers: Webster Slaughter, Haywood Jeffires, Ernest Givins, Curtis Duncan
This gonna hurt some people, but we must be realistic here, Kenny Britt is hurt, nobody knows if he gonna play at high level or even he won't play at all. Nate Washington had a good season but can he repeat it? , Kendall Wright is a rookie, is gonna pan out immediately? Or next year? Nobody knows.
Said that, Titans have an unproven receivers corp or in others word they have average receivers, and the Oilers had a very good production of their receivers, they had 3000 yds .
So I guess that Oilers had a better receivers corp than actual Titans' receivers.
Back to 1993 days, Oilers went 12-4, Division Champions, and lost in Divisional Game.
Maybe Titans can repeat that performance or make it better.
By the way, the Oilers started 1-4.
