2012 NFL Free Agency: Titans Wishlist #7 Vincent Jackson

I am assuming that those of you who had a problem with Stevie Johnson are also going to have a problem with Vincent Jackson, but he is the #7 player on my free agency wishlist none the less. Jackson has had his issues, but there is no doubt that he is a dynamic receiver. He would be a HUGE upgrade for the Titans.

Last season Jackson had 60 catches for 1,106 yards and 9 touchdowns. Again, just imagine Jake Locker under center with Kenny Britt on one side, Jackson on the other side, Nate Washington in the slot and Jared Cook at tight end. Talk about a vertical game!

It appears that Jackson is definitely going to hit the open market.

Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network had this to say about where V Jax will end up on NFL Network the other day:

I don't see anyway he's back there (San Diego). The Chargers won't franchise him. They have come out and said that. There has been acrimony over the years. There are too many teams in need of a wide receiver. Someone is going to give him big bucks.

Go get him Ruston!

Isn't Jackson pretty injury prone as well?

Wouldn’t really want 2 high paid injury prone receivers on the roster. IMO

He was hurt in 2010

Besides that he has been pretty healthy.

The only season he has played in less than 15 games is 2010

If he's completely healthy then why not?

I don’t think I’d want us to pay him the money he’d be looking for though.

i think we have some cap space to make this work. im sure the patriots and 49ers will also make a run for him. not sure how aggressive we will be in FA thought.

Jackson is a beast

the two problems:

1. He’ll want major $$$
2. He has a history of DUI’s

Other than that he’s a great receiver

V-Jack is probably more drama than Stevie Johnson

he doesn’t give it his all on the field, he takes plays off and flat out gives up in games. I’ve watched plenty of charger games (my roommates a huge fan) and even he can’t stand vjack anymore.

Big Name Free Agent WR's

Buyer beware. Production usually drops when they get a big payday, have to learn a new playbook , and have to develop a rapport with a new QB all at the same time.

If I were a GM I would only sign a low to mid level free agent WR. Stay away from the blue chips. They won’t pay off.

I'd rather have Johnson than Bowe or Jackson, I know I'm gonna catch some flak for that

Johnson probably commands less money and has been healthier. Drops are there for all of them tho.

Doesn't he have a tendency to be very inconsistent?

Or am I just projecting his inconsistency this year onto his past career? I wouldn’t mind VJAX in two-tone blue, though. He and Britt would drive teams insane.

Stop It....

I made a post last week on the exact same subject. The free agency period is very annoying now. It used to be that ALL FA’s must be signed weeks prior to the draft. Now some veterans can wait until training camp is over to jump ships. Why do general managers hold off until the very last minute to sign their players: Peyton, Brees, Colston, Wayne?!?!?!?!???

But no, the whole NFL world MUST wait upon the Colts & Saints to make their decisions…& we won’t receive/Buy Wayne, Colston, or Vjax. We would be fortunate to get Meachem or Lloyd.
