2012 NFL Free Agency: Titans Wishlist #8 Stevie Johnson
I know this one is going to be controversial, but Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson is the my 8th most wanted free agent for the Titans. The bad about Johnson is highly publicized. His on the field antics are probably going to be enough to turn a lot of people off, but the fact remains that he is a really good NFL wide receiver. In the last two seasons he has tallied 158 catches for 2,077 yards and 17 touchdowns.
As far as the antics go, Johnson told CBS Eye on Sports that he is done with that stuff:
"It could be a good thing or a bad thing," Johnson said when asked if teams would be worried. "But no matter what: I'm done with it. When I was doing my first couple seasons, I was just trying to be a relevant guy, you know? I think people are beginning to know who [No.] 13 is."Really? Johnson's just going to quit coming up with random, quirky ways to draw attention to himself? Apparently so.
"Yeah, for real man," Johnson said. "Just thumbs ups. I'm going to still play with the confidence and swagger I have but thinking about what I'm doing next, I'm done with it."
Johnson would be a major upgrade over any receiver on this roster not named Kenny Britt or Nate Washington.

I got the same response when I suggested Stevie in the past.

The man blamed God when he dropped an important ball a couple seasons ago
add his dumb antics and it’s a grand mess.

we need to get a free agent wide reciever.
I think johnson would be a steal! I think some of the things he’s got in trouble for have been funny. Loved when he wore the "why so serious " shirt under his jersey.

So, since we're going this direction..
The next number has to be Terrell Owens!

Yes because TO has over 2,000 yards in the past 2 seasons

No drama queens please
I do see Munch wanting to deal with that in the (jake) locker room. We leaned from VY didn’t we?

Stevie Johnson would be better than having Damian Williams as our #3
For the Jake of argument ...

People want to knock Stevie for having fun on the field
He really is a damn good and hard working receiver. Doubt we sign him. He’ll probably end up in New England or back with the Bills. San Diego if they’re willing to spend money on a receiver but I doubt that too. Minnesota or Seattle could throw money at him. Personally I’m a huge fan.
by -Erock on Feb 7, 2012 5:45 PM CST via iPhone app reply actions
He's the real deal
But he’s going to command more money than the Titans want to give him. If we make any moves this free agency, if will be resigning our own guys, and maybe a few other minor signings. I don’t see a big splash coming up, even though I hope I am wrong.
I got a great idea......
How about we just sit back and watch the COLTS sign him! Then we can watch as he touches our secondary all year!

we dont currently HAVE a secondary...

Exactly!
More reason to get better wide outs! Give ourselves a better chance to outscore opponents!
I like Johnson as a FA pickup.
I’d like Bowe more, but Johnson is younger and is certainly no slouch.
…Just don’t throw it to him when he’s wide open for the game-winning score.
I'd rather have Wes Welker
Hey its a wishlist right?
I watch the Music City Miracle every time I visit MCM just because I can
Welker can´t catch! Or so said Gisele..

Turns out he’s a massive titans fan and will sign here on a veteran minimum contract just because he wants to play here

So much speed he couldn't
get on the field last year!

Maybe he was on the field more that we think
but he was so fast we couldn’t see him.

Alls I'm saying is he gots the speed
every time I said anything else this year people backhanded me, saying he burnt by defenders when he was on the field, hence the big penalty he got for us earlier in his time here.
BETTER THAN YOUR JOHNSON BOY!!! WASSSSSSSUP!

Big upgrade & he’s still young. He’s a good guy. Nowhere near T.O., when it comes to his past silliness.

Jake Locker > Peyton Manning

can we add Mike Adams to the list?
He might not make a “dream team” wish list but the guy can ball and is a definite upgrade at safety. Veteran guy that plays smart and hard. Add him to the “realistic expectations” wish list.

No way
Not really what any team needs. Would rather give up a first round and go after Wallace who is a team player and a workaholic.

I would actually like this move a lot
Pair Johnson with Britt and Washington and I think that’s a pretty good group for Locker to work with going forward.
I do not know much about this guys antics
Are they of the mildly entertaining variety, but you really wish he’d stop (TO), or of the dumpster fire variety (VY)?
I kinda doubt they make a splash with a WR free agency signing regardless, though.
He had some celebration penalties.
And he blamed God when he dropped a game-winning pass one time.
Apart from that I don’t know of anything else, and I can live with a guy who celebrates, he’s got the talent to make up for it. That ball he dropped was a killer though.
the blaming god was obviously a joke.
Shit you say jokingly to your friends. Unfortunately he didn’t understand twitter is not your friend.
by -Erock on Feb 8, 2012 2:13 AM CST via iPhone app up reply actions
I didn't take it seriously either.
That’s why I would love to have him on the team. He’s got talent and celebration penalties aren’t something I’d consider a deal-breaker, especially since he’s at least making a media attempt to assuage that concern.
That’s just my opinion though, he’s not my #1 choice as a FA WR.
No Thanks!!!!!!
I’d rather get free agent Harry Douglas 1)Cheaper 2)Already proven to be a good#3 receiver 3)He would be a upgrade from Hawk and Williams . Also I think we can get Posey,WR,Ohio State in the 4th round and he has the speed to get the deep ball.
Stevie was a proven #1
Why settle for a proven #3?
by -Erock on Feb 8, 2012 1:33 PM CST via iPhone app up reply actions
This, much better to have multiple "#1s" on the field at the same time

I will hold my tongue on the people that say no to wanting this Guy on the Roster!
It’s like some of you forget that we want win Super Bowls! Johnson and Britt plus Nate in the slot is a unstoppable receiving core, and it will guarantee that the running lanes are open for CJ! I think we need to address the offensive line in the draft and not waste a high draft pic on a wide out! Then focus on remanding picks on defense!
