Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Think Global, Sign Local Edition
Former Titans executive Jeff Diamond lays out the roadmap for each team in the NFL, though his assertion that the Titans may let Finnegan walk and use the franchise tag on none other than Michael Griffin makes me question his sanity. The franchise tag for safeties (as best as I can find) could be north of $10 million. That would be crazier than franchising Bo Scaife. Griffin isn't garbage, but he hasn't been close to elite since 2008.
Former Pro Bowler Lofa Tatupu worked out for the Titans yesterday. The undersized MLB is attempting a come back at the ripe old age of 29 after missing 2011 while recovering from a knee injury. Tatupu will get a lot of looks around the league, and could provide at the least a solid veteran reserve option. It's worth noting that Mike Reinfedlt, Ruston Webster and Lake Daswon were all in Seattle when the franchise drafted Tatupu.
Is there anyone who would be excited about adding Albert Haynesworth at this point? Albert is only 30, and was largely cut due to his $7 million cap number for next season. If anyone else does sign him, that'll be the fourth uniform he's put over the past 16 months or so.
The Titans signed local product Lamar Divens, a 6'3" 343 lb. monster who spent last season on Tampa Bay's practice quad. Divens played college ball at TSU and Vanderbilt, and graduated from high school at nearby Lincoln County. Divens had the option of re-signing with the Bucs, but opted to leave for greener pastures.
PFF rates the top FA edge rushers of the upcoming free agent class, which includes a lot of guys who would be an instant upgrade for our anemic pass rush.
The NFL may repeal the rules that trigger black outs for home games that aren't sold out, which is a situation the Titans have always avoided.
More Pey Pey non-news.
Oh, Randy. Poor, poor Randy.
In the least surprising news ever, Jeff Fisher has been reinstated to the league's competition committee. Fisher had to resign the spot last season once he decided to take the year off after the Titans fired him, but everyone knew he would get it back once he took another job.

It was a mutual agreement, the Titans bought out the last year of his contract.

In today's Titans news:
Peyton Manning
Randy Moss
Jeff Fisher
Man, it’s a slow day for a Titans fan.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

Meh. I’d love to hear more about what’s going on with PRESENT Titans, not former ones.

The first number is the 2012 cap value. The second is the 2011 cap number. Cap numbers are based on the previous year, and since the cap went down last year with the new CBA, the tag numbers are lower.
I think Grif at 6.2 mil for one year isn’t all that bad. This would allow the Titans to draft a guy or two and develop him / them for a year.
Give me Babs over Griffin ...

Babs should come much cheaper
Especially if he realizes that he fits well into Jerry Gray’s scheme.
I wish we could sign Haynesworth for vet minimum and he becomes awesome again ...
I wish Kenny Britt could play a full season
I wish Chris Johnson could still run a 4.24
I wish Finnegan would sign with the Titans for $4mill a year
I wish Derrick Morgan would become Jared Allen
I wish at least one of these wishes comes true.
For the Jake of argument ...

Tight ship
I would have to say no to Albert. I believe Mike Munchak is doing a very nice job of running a tight ship. I like that every d-lineman right now seems to be a high effort player. Jerry Gray seems to be a no nonsense type of coach as well. I’m not sure how big Al would fit into this new regime.
Today's LOLs...
A post over at BCC says that the Sparkle Kitties can go 10-6 or 9-7 with the schedule they have…which is roughly the same schedule we do give or take a couple games. Unless Sunshine becomes the reverse-Sampson (chop his hair off and he becomes awesome), no way that happens. Still…it’s humorous to read the blind optimism in the comments there.

Geez, don't you write enough novels complaining about your own team BBS?
Then he went off and ranted against us? I hope there are many, many repeats of this past season for the Colts in the near future cause he would totally deserve it.
