MCM NFL Postseason Awards: Defensive Player of the Year

The march continues with Defensive Player of the Year. It is just a shame that Colin McCarthy did not get to play a full season because he would clearly win this award if he did.

Jared Allen had the best season of his brilliant career. He had 22 sacks on the season. That is really impressive considering it is not like he was in a lot of games where the other team was throwing a lot trying to come from behind. He also had a pick.

DeMarcus Ware is another guy that put up an eye-popping sack total. He ended the season with 19.5.

Jason Pierre-Paul might be more feared than the other two on this list. He finished the season with 16.5 sacks.

Charles Woodson is your final nominee. The former Heisman Trophy winner had another big year with seven interceptions. He returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown

Vote in the poll below for Defensive Player of the Year.

Didn't vote for any of them. Justin Smith deserves the award in my opinion.

He was a game changer. He had his way with o-lineman all season, and was a huge impact player, which is one of the main reasons why the 49ers defense were such a force on that side of the ball this year.

But I can promise you he won't win the award

because he wasn’t as disruptive as Albert a few years ago

he does play in a 3-4 tho

And fat Al got to line up between gaps. Smith took on multiple blockers and wrecked them. Ask Aldon Smith what kind of affect Justin played on his spectacular rookie season.

I still stand by my vote

Jared Allen was an absolute beast this year for an otherwise relatively quiet year for the Vikings. He’s still a tool, a monsterous, tenacious and scary tool.

"You play to win the game!"

I think Justin Smith should get it.

You apparently aren't interested in commenting on the Colts, but instead just want to take shots at editors for how we manage our blog. Thus, you're now no longer welcome.
