We all know Cook is a very talented player and should provide a great matchup advantage whenever he is lined up for the Titans. Problem is we´ve beem waiting for him to explode and become a consistent contributor to this offense but this explosion never really happened.
While there are several legitimate reasons that prevented Cook to develop into the player we expected, it is also obvious that the team reached the crossroads and faces a very big decision of what to do with him. He just asked for a trade during a tough stretch of the season and I just can´t stand a diva WR on the Titans roster (yes, he´s not really different than a diva WR).
Cook is a free agent after the season and right now it would take a) a franchise tag or b) a new coaching staff along with a very expensive long term contract; to avoid his departure through free agency.
Having said that, Jermichael Finley is another TE that seemed destined for enter the Gates/Gonzalez/Graham/Gronk group of great Tight Ends. I have him on multiple FF leagues and his production has been even worse than Cook´s. If you consider that there´s a very decent QB throwing his way then it´s just maddening. The Packers just paid him but haven´t got their money´s worth in return. With Rodgers throwing there´s no reason to believe Cook would not have produced the at least the same numbers as Finley.
Considering both the Packers and the Titans feel they´re getting less than ordered I thought of asking MCM if you would make this trade happen. What do you think?
My take is that the Titans would be getting a similar player while finally deciding that the Cook project is not worth the wait.
