Yulinda Cook: A Feel Good Story That Is Not Keyunta Dawson

So as we all know, tomorrow night, our Titans of Tennessee will take on the Steelers of Pittsburg. The game may or may not be a blowout, it might be an instant classic, it could be a shocking upset. But we do know one thing for sure, and that is the fact that Yulinda Cook, mother of Jared Cook, will be hoisting up the Titans' 12th Man flag.

Yulinda Cook is a true warrior. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when Jared was attending University of South Carolina, and didn't tell Jared. She wanted him to focus on school and football and not be distracted by her health problem. It wasn't until a friend of Jared asked him how his mom was doing after her surgery that he found out what was going on with his mother.

"Mrs. Cook went through two surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and Herceptin treatments. She lost her hair, eyebrows and eyelashes but never lost hope. She said the changes to her appearance that resulted from the treatments may have been harder on her children."

She never gave up hope that she'd make it, and eventually she did. She is a proud survivor and rightfully so. Her being alive today is a reminder that there are more important things in life than football. No matter what the outcome of Thursday night's game is, it will be a magical experience for the Cook family, and a sign of hope for all of those battling all forms of Cancer.

Yulinda Cook, a true feel good story.
