My Mock Draft (never too early)
1. Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina
DeCastro (G, Stanford) would be nice here, but there is more talent for interior OL in round 2. Ingram is a bigger DE (275-280 pounds) who would be a nice fit in Jerry Gray's defence. Our only DE under contract for 2012 is Derrick Morgan. I can see the Titans drafting Ingram and also signing another free agent DE like Dave Ball or perhaps squeeze out a couple more years from John Abraham, provided he comes reasonably cheap.
2. Kevin Zeitler, G, Wisconsin
A big mauler. Something the line has been needing for a while. Wisconsin linemen are well coached so Zeitler could start right off the bat. Goodbye Leroy Harris.
3a. Ryan Broyles, WR/PR, Oklahoma
Broyles was a first round talent whose stock will fall to the third round because of a torn ACL suffered earlier this season. The Titans already have options at receiver, but don't have a prototype slot reciever like Broyles. Broyles would probably start the season as the #4 receiver behind Britt, Washington and Williams. So long Hawk.
3b. (Comp for Babin) Ben Habern, C, Oklahoma
Insurance in case Scott leaves in free agency, or in the alternative, to push Amano out of the starting position. I could see them taking a center higher as I believe Amano is more of a liability than Harris.
4.Neiko Thorpe, FS, Auburn
My gut tells me the Titans either resign Griffin or another veteran free safety. Thorpe will provide depth and play special teams.
5a. Mychal Kendricks, OLB, California
He is projected to go in rounds 3-4, but I am hoping he has a poor combine and falls this far. An underrated tackling machine with a lot of explosion. I think he was also PAC 12 defensive player of the year. Verner, Ayers and Casey will know him from their college days. This would be a steal. He is the type of player who could end up being a very solid starter at the WILL position.
5b. (Comp for Tulloch) Jack Crawford, DE, Penn State
Will fill the 4th DE spot behind Morgan, Ingram and a TBD free agent signing. Munchak will like the PSU connection. Big guy who fits in well with a 4-3.
6. Adrien Cole, ILB, Louisiana Tech
Similar to Tulloch. Shorter, bulkier guy who would possibly back up McCarthy.
7. Janzen Jackson, FS, McNeese State
Played at Tennessee before being dismissed for drug issues. A physical talent from a small school. Sounds like exactly the type of guy the Titans look at with their last pick.

Did anyone else notice Jayron Hosley play last night?
If we don’t resign Finn (which I hope they do) would anyone be against picking him up in the 3rd round if available? He seems perfect to play in our zone system. He can be 5 yards off the receiver and still break up the play.
Slight bias, being from Tech and all, but I love Jayron
There was a Mock Draft for 2012 literally days after the 2011 draft, and they had Tennessee taking Hosley with, like, the 8th overall pick.
I'm a totally serviceable 3rd string MCM commenter.
What? I am...

PR MARIANI BROYLES
WHOOA... we ain't cutting KLUUUUUUUG!
I think Hawkins is before Campbell on the depth chart.
I’d like to draft the Iowa guy (Mcnutt) or Tommy Streeter before Broyles.
I also like the guy from Kentucky, Danny Trevathan, and I think we can get him in the 4th – 5th round.
Michael Brewster is a decent Center as well that can be picked up in the 3b spot.
I would also like to address safety earlier in the draft.
But, in all, I like the positions you are addressing and I have absolute no problem with the first 2 picks.

Agreed
Klug shouldn’t be going anywhere. I also like Trevathan…little bastard is EVERYWHERE making plays. I’m not high on Broyles for a lot of reasons, most notably the ACL injury and the fact that OU receivers never pan out in the NFL (I guess Mark Clayton is the closest thing to an exception, and that ain’t saying much). I’d rather see (depending on the round) Jenkins from Illinois, Wright from Baylor, Streeter, Posey from Ohio St, or Jordan White from Western Michigan. Some pretty good suggestions in this post, though.
sorry about that
I copied and pasted from an excel. It meant to say that Shaun Smith will possibly be cut. Klug is a rock. I love the guy.
I just feel that Smith isn’t worth his top 15 DT salary.
That would make a helluva lot more sense
You’re probably right
Maybe Quinn Johnson sticks as FB
Not sure if we’d still owe Green Bay a 7th if that happens. If the deal was 4 games or less this season we’re in the clear
Too soon to be talking about a Superbowl? Ummm... Ok
by Father of Zeus on Jan 4, 2012 9:16 PM CST up reply actions
I could see that happening
But I heard that the conditional 7th was only if he played more than 4 games. We released him after 4 games, but then resigned him late in the year. He didnt suit up for those last 2 games so I am thinking we dont have to give up the 7th rd pick.
I could actually see Johnson and a rookie free agent battling it out in camp. I would not resign Hall. He had a good run and I think his time is over. You don;t want to resign a fullback who had a recent concussion.
I thought it was pretty much a given that Mike Griffin was leaving
I could be wrong about that, but I was under the impression that the team was planning on losing him, but think they have a good chance at keeping Finnegan.
Also, DeCastro won’t be there at #20, but there is no other interior lineman in this draft like him. Won’t matter to Titans unless they trade up, and I guess it’s hard to justify trading up for a guard, but the dude is elite. Luck is great on his own, but DeCastro and Jon Martin have made him look REALLY good all year, and have masked a lot of Stanford’s offensive shortcomings. Seriously, I think DeCastro is going to be like Steve Wisniewski 2.0…Munchak would love him.
I also heard Steve Hutchinson comparisons
Either way, he looks like a lock to be a pro bowler.
Maybe Munchak wants us to draft a blue chip guard (a la Mike Munchak) and we end up getting him?
Did you guys see DeCastro play in the Fiesta Bowl??
I made a special note to watch all his plays and to be honest, he didnt look all that great. He let the guy he was blocking get by him more than several times…resulting in a sack and multiple tackles on the RB for negative yards. I am no Pro but I was a little disappointed because I was on the DeCastro bandwagon.

My Idea
This is how I hope we Draft!!
First I would Trade off the #20 pick for a later pick in round 2 and 3.
2) Melvin Imgram,DE,South Carilina
2) Mike Brewster,C,Ohio State
3) Kevin Zeitler,G,Wisconsin
3) Marvin McNutt,WR,Iowa
3) Comp for Badin ( Branden Boykin,CB,Georgia)
4) Emmanual Echo,OLB,Texas
5) Comp for Tully ( Ladarius Green,TE,Louisiana-Lafayette)
5) Kenny Tate,SS,Maryland
6) Dan Herron,RB,Ohio State
7) Brandon Mosley,OT,Auburn
Interesting
If we could get Ingram, McNutt and Zeitler that late it would be nice. Boykin in the third round I would like, but only if we don’t resign Finny. If we do get Finny, I don’t think Boykin will be much help as a 4th or 5th CB. He would have to beat out Campbell, Hawkins and Mouton for the 4th spot.
I like how you got a TE. I think Graham is under contract for next year but Stevens isn’t. I would just prefer if we drafted a run blocking TE, not another Cook type like Green.
I'd like to see Bruce Irvin in a later round.
I like me some Irvin, what can I say?
This doesn't sound too awesome to me
first round talent whose stock will fall to the third round because of a torn ACL suffered earlier this season
I’d like to go in the direction of a non-torn-acl-wideout regardless of the round.
For the Jake of argument ...

Ya, it's a risk
But those types of guys can pay off. McGahee, Frank Gore, Thurman Thomas all fell due to knee concerns.
