2012 NFL Mock Draft: The Titans and Stephon Gilmore

We should see a flurry of mock drafts today after Saturday's Senior Bowl. The first one I looked at this morning was from Wes Bunting of The National Football Post. He has the Titans taking Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina. Here is what he had to say about the pick:

With starting CB Cortland Finnegan potentially leaving via free agency, getting a tall, physical defensive back who displays a natural feel in zone and can go get the football could become a pressing need in Tennessee.

That mock is pretty interesting. I like Gilmore, but the Titans would be crazy to take him with the pick with Mark Barron still on the board. Bama bias aside, Barron is going to be an impact player in this league. He is a guy who can come up and play in the box but can also turn and run with a receiver.

Depending on how free agency plays out, I think I would also like to see Melvin Ingram as the pick at #20 than Gilmore.

if we go DE in the 1st

im hoping its whitney mercilus. the guy not only has the sack numbers but he forces fumbles when he gets there too. he has great size and is still young and getting better.

With Barron on the board we don't need to be picking a CB.

We actually have two average corners. We have 2 bad safeties.

Glenn, Barron, Ingram would be better candidates over Gilmore.

Overall Ranking list

It seems more of us like to debate what position we need most vs whom would be the best pick at #20 with overall talent if these names are on the board. I doubt Upshaw will be there by 20.

1. Barron
2. Upshaw
3. Ingram
4. Glenn
5. Coples

This might be the first year that I don’t want a CB first round; mostly as Jenkins & Gilmore do not suit me they can play right away like Barron or Ingram can on our defense. Glenn suits our biggest need, yet I’m really hoping for Barron…
