Will there be a dynasty in this decade?
Hello. I have a question that's been festering in my mind for some time now, and I'd like some answers. We all know of the dynasties in pro football: 60's Packers, 70's Steelers, 80's 49ers, 90's Cowboys, 2000's Patriots. Some believe that because of the prevalence of Free Agency nowadays that it's extremely difficult to maintain a team that build a dynasty. The Patriots were able to disprove that theory, but even so, they maintained a lot of the same players throughout their run. My question is: Will there be a dynasty in 2010-2020? If so, then who do think it will be? We all hope it's the Titans. But what do you think?

I could see the Packers or Giants doing this.
As far as the Titans go…while there’s nothing I would like better…I don’t see it. And I’m so hoping that I’m wrong about that.

THE TITANS, DUH!
But in all seriousness, I believe it’ll be the 49ers. Looking at teams with the greatest upsides, they definitely rank at the top.
Make the NFC Championship Game in the first year of your new coaching era, using a 1st-round QB Bust to get there, and only BARELY lose that game because your normal punt returner was injured and his replacement was known for turning the ball over in the clutch during college?
Yeah, safe bet they’ll be a dynasty this decade. If not them, then next likely team is… a tie between us and the Bengals, honestly.
When we played them that week, it honestly felt like I was watching two future AFC playoff contenders in the first year of their rebuilding eras.
Unless our coaching staff/front office royally kicks us in the ass and screws up our potential as a team, then I believe we’ll be in the mix for the next decade; Same holds true for the Bengals, imo.

I also had that feeling
when I was watching the Titans vs Bengals. It seemed like it may be a recurring playoff match up in the coming years.
We have 8 long years to find out.
…and the fortunes of all the teams can turn quickly (see this year’s 49ers and Colts).
Analytically, the Packers and Saints both look to have the advantage by having strong teams and have already won titles. But that doesn’t mean any other team won’t “put it together” and win a couple titles to earn a dynasty.

I honestly have to disagree with the Packers/Saints thing.
Those defenses are insufferable, and with the Saints losing Gregg Williams, the Packers’ best interception artist probably retiring, and the Packers losing a lot of their coaching staff, I don’t know if they could be considered a dynasty for this decade.

True
That may be part of their surprise decline. But they could also stumble across the next hot D coordinator or draft some hotshiz talent. I’m just saying they each have a title and each have stud QBs with offensive talent around them. Both of of those are hard to come by.

well i see it as two ways
homerism: Titans
Realism: Packers or Giants, more so Packers

I don't think anyone will win more than 3 in the decade so whether they own the decade or not is up for debate but
The Packers have a shot and will win a couple but their division is so tough, Detriot has the makings of a championship team so does Chicago so theres going to be years where the packers are going to struggle to win many titles I think.
Teams other than the packers who have a shot at being a dynasty, the Falcons have a very good youngish team. The Lions like I mentioned above could be great is Stafford continues to evolve and they get better defensively. The Patriots with Tom Brady could win it every season so they stand to be contenders again. And the last two that deserve mentioning are the 49ers and giants, both teams seem to be quite young and very talented.

Bad defenses can be fixed.
Look at all the dynasties and pretty much all super bowl winning teams, and what common thread do you see? An elite QB.
The Packers have the only proven elite QB that’s young enough to still be on top of his game in 2020.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"
