2012 NFL Mock Draft: Nick Perry to the Titans (Again)
SB Nation has put out their weekly mock draft, and they have the Titans selecting Nick Perry, DE, USC. That is becoming a common pairing across the internet with good reason. here is what they had to say about the pick:
Pass rushing help is always appreciated. The Titans tried and failed moving Jason Jones to the outside. With Perry, they get someone who really knows how to get the quarterback. They'll beef him up, and make another run at the AFC South while the Colts wait for Andrew Luck to hit his stride.
The more interesting part of that mock is the fact that Van Bibber has the Browns trading up to #2 to take Robert Griffin III. I am generally not a big fan of trades in mock drafts, but that one makes a lot of sense for both parties. The Rams aren't taking RG3. They can probably move back to #4, still get Justin Blackmon, and they would also pick up an extra first round pick.

Everyone is all on the Browns taking RGIII. I am not on that train. Also the thought of taking Nick Perry makes me sweat bullets. I’ve heard comparisons to JPP, but how often does that happen? Seriously.

RG3 will be a Skin...
Browns have 2 picks in 1st round. If they needed Luck, that could be accomplished on D-Day. Not that I want to advise our nemesis to take that route, but I believe CLE will take Richardson after they had to rely on their 3rd stringer this past year.

There's only 2 DEs worth a 1st rd pick....
Coples & Perry….and they’ll both be gone by #20.

I know a lot of people on here want Alshon Jeffery at 20
I was listening to McShay on espn radio and he was saying that Jeffery isnt fast enough to separate from defenders at the NFL level and also it seems like he was saying he is just lazy and compared him to Mike Williams from USC. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
fact is there aren’t a whole lot of 6’4" sophomores to put up 1500 yards in the SEC. the talent is undeniable. big bodied receivers don’t have to = Mike Williams.
we're gonna skate to one song and one song only.
Why do we need WR?
Did Julio Jones help the Falcons when they got swept in the playoffs = NO!
No means NO!

to help our passing game of course.
oh yes, Julio Jones is the reason the Falcons didn’t win the Super Bowl this year. dude is a rookie and should be their number one receiver within the next two years (which actually means something given how good White is). I can’t guarantee they’ll win one, but I’d be at least a little bit surprised if they don’t get there during the Jones/Ryan era.
we're gonna skate to one song and one song only.
no one is doubting that but the issue is, is that they drafted him to take their offense to the next level as they couldn’t match what the Packers had. So what happened? they got offensively shut out in the wild card game because they didn’t have a line to protect their QB.
USC > UT (Both of them)
It was the same Giants defense
That handed it to both the Packers and the Falcons. SO even if they did “match” what the Packers had, it wouldn’t be enough…

Slackers
Our team has had enough slackers that I think they should be able to tell if he is going to be motivated as a professional athlete or not but I still disagree on draft a receiver.
USC > UT (Both of them)
I haven't heard anyone on here say they wanted Jeffery....not at 20...no way.
Maybe in the 2nd round…maybe…

Well
Assuming he checks out off the field and attitude-wise, I would be in favour of taking him at 20, depending on who’s left. He’s just so good. You watch his film and you see an unbelievable talent. Teams will get caught up in combine times, but those mean nothing. On the field, against good competition, he’s been great.

Too many other good WRs ahead of him (and no...I'm not talking about Blackmon)
Kendall Wright…Michael Floyd…Mohamed Sanu

Jeffery>Wright. Floyd has off the field issues. I’d take Jeffery over Sanu.

That's still up in the air.
Plus I think the Rutgers connection would be a reason not to draft Sanu. I don’t want people looking up to Britt.

And...Britt had plenty of "off field issues"
But he turned out to be our best weapon on offense. I don’t think you’d have to worry about Sanu playing in the shadows of Kenny. And as far as Wright goes….why do you think RG3 put up soooo many big numbers? Kendall Wright!!

We have gotten sidetracked.
I fully admit Britt basically IS our passing game. However, I am skeptical about both his ability to stay out of trouble and stay healthy.

I’m not looking for choir boys….I’m looking for a straight up STUD!! I could care less about all that other crap. Now…you’ve got a point about his health…cuz if he comes back and goes out again…then we’re gonna have to call him Britt-le. God I hope that doesn’t happen!!

It's carried a lot of baggage as well
It wasn’t too long ago when people were worried about Britt’s character more so than his durability. Heaps of praise for Rutgers received should be dioled out lightly. Kenny’s great, don’t get me wrong. But we need consistency (both character and performance) before you can make a statement like that.

I'd take him
Intangibles: A selfless player who head coach Greg Schiano raved about when Sanu announced that he was leaving early. ?He?s meant a ton to this program,? Schiano said. ?He?s the guy who does everything. He?ll be very hard to replace. I don?t know if you ever replace him. You?ll just have to have a few guys do his thing.? Played all three years he was at Rutgers but will turn 23 early in his rookie season due to the fact that he turned 19 a week before his senior season of high school football began and he was ruled ineligible …

Sanu is starting to get a lot of love from some scouts.
Gotta check out the tape on him. As for getting a receiver, I already wrote this on another fan post but here it goes:
If we are getting a WR, it BETTER be in the 1st or 2nd round. I am so tired of having mid-round WRs that take time to develop and have consistency problems (see Dwill and Hawk).
However, this year, I don’t think we need a WR early because of our other glaring needs, UNLESS the value there is tremendous. If there is no value there, then we should just not address it in this year’s draft but take one early next year to make our offense more productive.
What I am trying to say is that if the Titans see Jeffery as a hell of a talent, then take him at 20, as it would really help out the offense. But don’t settle for a less talented guy when there are other needs, and by no means draft a mid-round WR as explained.
by infinitystealth on Jan 23, 2012 5:31 PM CST up reply actions
I think Jeffery has the most raw talent in this draft.
That doesn’t mean I think he’s the best receiver (though I would place him in the discussion).

No way he falls out of the first round.
I was so happy to see him get kicked out of his last game because it actually gives us a legit shot ot him. If Decastro is gone, and Perry isn’t a physical monster then I’m not hesitating on Jeffery at 20.

No way DeCastro is there at 20.
