2012 NFL Mock Draft: If Trent Richardson Falls

STILLWATER, OK - OCTOBER 29: Quarterback Robert Griffin III #10 of the Baylor Bears looks to throw in the first half against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on October 29, 2011 at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Oklahoma State defeated Baylor 59-24. (Photo by Brett Deering/Getty Images)

I have not been a big one on doing my own mock drafts. Usually I just search for mock drafts that other people have done and comment on them. This year I am going to try and do a mock once a week with different scenarios that I think are likely.

This one is going to take a look at what happens if Trent Richardson does not go in the top 10. Let me be clear, it would be insane for Richardson to fall out of the top ten because he is going to be a stud, but teams don't value running backs like they once did.

Click through the jump for Jommy's mock draft 1.0.

Star-divide

1. Indianapolis Colts, Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
2. St. Louis Rams, Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State
3. Minnesota Vikings, Matt Kalil, OT, USC

I heard earlier today that Blackmon is sliding down some boards, but I feel pretty confident in these three guys being the first three picks in the draft. After this is where it gets interesting.

4. Cleveland Browns, Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

This pick is not a gimme. I think the Browns should move on from Colt McCoy, mainly because he played at Texas, but I am not sure if they will or not.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
6. Washington Redskins, Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina
7. Jacksonville Jaguars, Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame

Those picks will be really pivotal for the rest of the draft. A team might panic and reach for a receiver later in the first if the three top guys are all off the board by the seventh pick.

8. Carolina Panthers, Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
9. Miami Dolphins, Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
10. Buffalo Bills, Courtney Upshaw, DE/LB, Alabama

Trevor hears Roger Goodell call this name and immediately starts convulsing.

11. Seattle Seahawks, Quinton Coples, DE, UNC
12. Kansas City Chiefs, Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
13. Arizona Cardinals, Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College
14. Dallas Cowboys, Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
15. Philadelphia Eagles, Dont'a Hightower, MLB, Alabama
16. New York Jets, Mark Barron, S, Alabama
17. Cincinnati Bengals (from Oakland), Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama

3 Bama players in a row? AT'S RITE

18. San Diego Chargers, Nick Perry, OLB, USC
19. Chicago Bears, David DeCastro, G, Stanford
20. Tennessee Titans, Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina

We are going to see a lot of different guys at #20 over the next three months, but for my money Ingram is the best pass rusher left on the board in this draft.

They could also look at DeCastro here, but I really don't see them spending a first round pick on an interior offensive lineman.

21. Cincinnati Bengals, Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
22. Cleveland Browns (from the Atlanta Falcons), Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
23. Detroit Lions, Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama
24. Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Adams, OT, Ohio State
25. Denver Broncos, Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
26. New York Giants, Devon Still, DT, North Carolina
27. Houston Texans, Dontari Poe, NT, Memphis
28. San Francisco 49ers, Mohammed Sanu, WR, Rutgers
29. Baltimore Ravens, Zach Brown, LB, UNC
30. New England Patriots (from New Orleans Saints), Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
31. New England Patriots, Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia
32. 32. Green Bay Packers, Fletcher Cox, DE, Mississippi State

My bad

At first I had DeCastro getting picked twice, so it could have been worse!

i would love Ingram

I’m just not so sure he’ll still be on the board at that point.

Richardson won't go at 17.

If he is going to go to Cinci, it would be at 21. None of the teams in between would take an RB, but Cinci could want to take a player that we might take before we get a shot.

I like Ingram

But if DeCastro is available then I’m picking him…he is head and shoulders above all of the other interior lineman by far

RG3 and Kendall Wright to the Browns. That's straight cash homie.

I seem to recall the last couple of times we drafted interior OL in the first round it turned out pretty well (HOF x2)…

I don’t see the logic in not thinking it logical to try it again given the extreme need if a stud is setting there at 20…

So is there some particular consequence to the Titans if Richardson falls outside the top 10 that I missed?

Or was that important just because you decided to shake this draft up in that way?

Personally, I want to see us take DeCastro is he’s on the board. There’s nothing quite like drafting a guy that you feel confident can be a centerpiece blocking for Locker for the next decade plus.

"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

No

It just shakes up the way the draft goes a little bit. He is just a guy that could go anywhere from #4 to #24.

I hope Cleveland takes RGIII

Those fans deserve something to cheer about. But if someone moves up to get him, I could see them goin WR.

Before I do anything I ask myself "Would an idiot do that?" And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing.

with Fisher in St.Louie

Does anyone think they go WR?
I’d be shocked, even if it is the right pick. Fisher hates to draft WR in the 1st. Round

Seahawks fan here...

Hawks won’t take Quinton Coples as he is not a fit in their system and Carroll values guys who breathe football, which from all reports, Coples does not. They would consider Perry, Brockers, or Zach Brown before him. Not a criticism, just a general observation. Nice mock!
