Jeff Fisher Has Adam Schefter in His Pocket

Yesterday Adam Schefter put out there that Jeff Fisher is not engaged in a leverage battle. Schefter said that neither team had made an offer to Fisher. That was clearly a ludicrous (LUDA!) statement.

For some reason the media just loves Fisher. I never really understood it because he never told them the truth, but Schefter is clearly in love with Fisher. Just look at the statement Schefter made on radio station this morning while insisting that Fisher is not playing a leverage game (via PFT):

"Jeff Fisher is trying to make sure that the situation is exactly the way that he wants it," Schefter said. "OK, that the organization lays out the travel, the trainers, the chiropractors, the budgets, the payrolls. I mean, there’s a lot that goes into this, OK? And he’s trying to sew this up with both sides."

I agree with what August said last, I cannot understand why these owners have not made a final offer to Fisher and told him to take it or leave it. Both teams are acting like they are getting Vince Lombardi. It is going to be a sad day for them when they are 8-8 for three straight years.

As I said on Twitter a few minutes ago, I thought that time away might make Fisher step back and realize where things went wrong here, but apparently all it has done is make him even more egotistical than he already was. I did not know that was possible.

Which ever team gets him...this is what they have to look forward to:

It is going to be a sad day for them when they are 8-8 for three straight years.

for the Rams,

is 8-8 for 2012 really a let down? But yes, consecutive 8-8 (w/o reason – ie: injuries) years is bad … especially in that division.

How do you know that's not what he's doing?

The guy is already a multi-millionaire. Maybe he’s just weighing all his options.

I don’t really get the egotistical argument, either. Even if he is playing both teams against each other, that’s what any normal person with competing job offers would do.

It’s not about the truth, it’s about the moustache rides.

While 8-8 for three seasons is better than these teams have seen in a while, it’s not THAT much better to act like Fisher is a savior. I think he’s a good coach, but not as good as the media are portraying right now.

Do you have any information to the contrary Jimmy? It seems like you’re just speculating that he’s using it for leverage (I’m not denying it, but neither of us are going off any inside sources or information found). Schefter is probably the most reliable reporter out there.
