Jim Wyatt is excited to see Kenny Britt and the newly-broken out Jared Cook on the field together in 2012. Cook struggled through parts of the season, but ended up just 9 yards shy of the Titans franchise single-season record for receiving yards by a TE. If Britt can come back at 100%, and bot guys stay healthy and focused, this offense could be a juggernaut no matter what happens with the running game.

Mike Munchak refused to let Loggains interview with the Bears, which is great news for Titans fans. Of course if Locker hits the ground running next season, you can bet that even more teams will come calling to offer open OC positions.

The Colts are apparently close to naming Ryan Grigson, formerly the Philadelphia Eagles director of player personnel, their new GM. Paul K has some notes to get you caught up on his accomplishments.

With the reports coming out that the Colts will take Andrew Luck, the suitors for Peyton Manning are lining up. If this process stretches out until draft day, there are going to be a lot of QBs who thought they were secure going into next year who get very nervous.

The Falcons and the Redskins are making waves by trying to get players with a history of multiple concussions to sign waivers specific to the related conditions. These are a new development, and the NFLPA is understandably pissed about it. I think it's a horrible idea: teams should be more cautious with the health and safety of these guys, and removing legal responsibility doesn't exactly aid that end. Plus it's a material danger with the job of playing in the NFL. I get why owners would try, but this is a FAIL from jump.

Some folks in Denver are quietly pissed that former head coach Josh McDaniels is being allowed to join the Patriots staff right before the two teams play on Sunday.

Curious.

Should Locker really take off next season, why not give Loggains a shot at OC here the following season? If he is really that bright of a up and coming offsensive mind, would it not be foolish not to give him a chance before possibly losing him? You would still have some continutity there.

Probably.

But if the run game was to continue to struggle next season even after personnel changes due to some of his schemes or whatever, I could see a change possibly happening no matter how well Jake does.

The Broncos are running a different offense now, and there’s plenty of film on Tebow. I’m sure he has insight to Tim’s choice of breakfast, and how long his blessings are, but that’s not gonna change game decisions. They’re just building up their excuse is all.

Yup, Webster is the draft guy, whereas Dawson in the NFL guy.

So Dawson probably has more to do with free agency and NFL moves, whereas Webster would be considered the top scout.

How long has Dawson been here? That could give us a better idea. We’ve had some good pickups, but honestly haven’t exactly been going for big signings (or even moderate ones) in recent years.

He's been here for 5 years, initially as Director of Scouting (so I guess he started as a draft guy), and this year was his first as VP of Football Operations.

I don’t think our FA signings/strategy has been all that bad. We negotiate with players that fit our team, set a price and don’t overpay.

In the last few years it seems we misjudge the talent we are signing for or at least misjudge how much that player has left in the tank..

Some of our signings have been decent, but we rarely make a move that pushes us over then threshold.

Teams are doing a much better job of managing their cap and keeping their guys in the fold. You don’t really get a Julius Peppers hitting the market in their prime anymore. And again, I go back to the Philly example…

but Shaun Smith and Barret Ruud? yes they did their job as place holders for rookies… but if we are going to spend that kind of money we should be getting a playmaker and not a place holder.

Much more stable I think, Stephen Ross (owner of Miami) appears to have no idea what he’s doing and their front office appears to be a case of too many chefs in the kitchen.
