Tennessee Titans Name Three Players Captain
The Tennessee Titans have announced their captains for the 2011 season. Matt Hasselbeck will be the captain on offense, Cortland Finnegan will be the captain on defense and Tim Shaw will be the special teams captain. These are three new faces with last year's captains being Vince Young, Stephen Tulloch and Donnie Nickey.
On one hand it is a surprise that Finnegan is a captain with the contract mess that went on during training camp, but he was the guy that was putting everything together for the players during the lockout. The fact that his teammates voted him captain speaks volumes to the leadership he has shown since the end of last season.
I am not surprised at all that Hasselbeck was voted a captain even though he has only been here for a few weeks. He is a guy that has been a leader his whole career, and he was putting together workouts for the Seattle players during the lockout when he pretty much knew the team wasn't going to have him back.
Tim Shaw is a special teams specialist and deserves the honor unlike the man who held the title last season.
