As someone who lives in Seattle and follows the Wash. Huskies and Seattle Seahawks, I will make the following predictions for the Titans this year. Matt Hasselbeck is a good quarterback but he has missed substantial playing time each of the last 3 seasons with various injuries. Expect him to get injured this year and Jake to get thrown into the mix. If this doesn’t happen, I will be surprised.
I also expect Jake to rise to the occasion and plesantly surprise the Titan faithful. This guy is the real deal, quick, elusive, great arm and a clean living total commitment type of player who just wants to win. He really is a “first in, last out type of quarterback” I have no doubt that if Jake Locker was born to play in the NFL. If he would have chosen to play defense in college, then I am sure he would be playing linebacker as a rookie in the NFL this year. He would have been a great linebacker and would have probably eventually been all pro in that position. But, he is even better at quarterback.
Some of the qualities I noticed about Jake during his WA Husky career is he never complained about his offensive line-evn during the dark days. Also, when he turned down a possible #1 draft choice and a possible $50 Million dollar pay day one 15 months ago (I personally thought that decision was crazy) , to return for his senior season at Washington, I remember him saying to the local sports radio show “that he was confident that the money would end up working out in the long run during the duration of his NFL career and he wasn’t worried about it” That statement told me volumes about this guy.
I have 2 favorite NFL teams now, The Seattle Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans. Titan fans are going to love watching Jake progress. I just wish he were playing for my Seahawks
