Dunno that this is the white flag
He’s probably more capable than McCown and has nothing to learn from watching McCown play. I don’t necessarily disagree with them throwing him out there, especially against Carolina

He better be more capable than McCown (considering his draft position) but…
… I’d say it’s still a little too early to start him. It’s my “opinion” (for what that’s worth) that he needs to sit and watch a little while longer. He’s no Cam Newton… of course, I also thought Newton should have sat for a while, too.
Not that it matters. If Gabbo bombs out because the Jags rushed him, then it’s a good thing for the Titans. Not saying I want the guy to fail but I just want my team to succeed…

BCC is going crazy over it, I don't get it.
Seem to think he’s the second coming of…someone. I saw nothing from him in the preseason that showed me he could be a top-flight NFL QB. I’m tempted to post Superhorn’s pre-draft breakdown of him over there just to see the reaction.

We felt we had a shot with Rusty Smith...
I imagine they get over their optimism pretty quick.
These are the same people who thought McCown was Tom Brady.
Grain of salt….

we did lose to them, so be ready for that obvious comeback.

FWIW re: Newton
I felt the exact same way about Newton after watching him in the preseason, which I went out of my way to do. He looked tentative, made tons of physical mistakes, and all around looked like a rough ride ahead for the Panthers. Week 1 he was a completely different QB than the one I saw in the preseason.
Not saying that will happen with Gabbert, but food for thought.
Newton at least showed in college he had a deep ball and a cannon of an arm in general.
I didn’t watch Gabbert at all in college, but my understanding is he was the king of dump-offs and short-yardage throws, which is exactly what I saw in the preseason. Of course things can change, but with Newton you have a history of big performances, Gabbert has none of that to really show that he could become something.

I did watch him in college
MU alum, saw most of his games. I do not think king of dumpoffs is a fair title. Brad Smith was king of dumpoffs. Chase Daniel was king of the quick throws and the occasional deep ball to Maclin. When I first saw Gabbert I was awed by his arm strength and how well he could throw a 20 yard deep out all the way across the field. Maybe I was just comparing him to BSmith and Daniel before him, but I was very impressed by him.
I think the “dumpoff” label came more from the offense he had his senior year. Seemed to be a lot more short throws. This guy can make all the throws though, and he is pretty mobile for a tall guy.
But yes, he is still Sunshine, and his lame ass brother did quit on Mizzou this spring after he couldn’t beat out James Franklin (lol!) for a starting job.

With Coach Zorro on our side, we will slice opponents to ribbons. Tim Tebow gives me hope and I already have faith and charity in my heart! I see a propitious future rife with Lombardis for our Broncos!

Best of luck to you.
We’re rooting for the other squad obviously.
Question for you…how does Von Miller look? I haven’t heard much about him since…well…the draft…
