Playmaker Efficiency/Dominance Week 2
This is the week 2 Playmaker numbers for the 2011 season.
This was originally a document of RBs with respect to Team Efficiency. In the effort to make as much work for myself as possible, I've incorporated a new number, as well as retroactively fit all playmakers (including WRs) of 10 touches or more to the document. The reason was that it seemed arbitrary to ignore RBs that had many more receptions than handoffs, and also to ignore WRs that were given a RBs share of looks during the game.
The breakdown after the jump.

Forte continues his string of top 5 performances with a #1 performance this week, that by metrics was clearly above and beyond what anyone else brought to the table this week. Turner also continues to be dominant. There are also many more WRs crashing the party this week, with Maclin leading the way with accounting for nearly 200 yards of offense by himself.
As appears to be the theme for Titans opponents this year, RB Playmakers feature heavily. Rice is ranked highly because of his positive efficiency as well as his high Dominance #, which is largely due to being responsible for 40% of the offense by himself. In week 1, Jaguars RBs accounted for 41 of their 73 plays. Rice was 35% by himself. As the sample size continues to be small, it's not yet appropriate to extrapolate this out to say something about the Titans defense, but teams clearly think they can run the ball against us, and appear to at least achieve some success doing it.
For the Titans, Chris Johnson continues to rank in the bottom third of the league. Given that he touched the ball for a higher percentage of plays than Rice, maybe we can put to bed the idea that we just need to get CJ more touches in a game to make this happen. While maybe he does need reps, or maybe glasses, it is worth noting that both the Ravens and Jaguars have yet to give up a top20 playmaking performance this year, so maybe the early gauntlet is partly to blame.
Next week, the Titans receive the Broncos at home. In terms of offensive production, McFadden absolutely torched the Broncos in week 1. Benson for the Bengals was much more subdued this week, but they subsequently gave up a huge performance to rookie A.J. Green with enough touches to make the table this week. Benson also generated 4.00 YPT, which is way more than CJ has so far this year. If there is a game tailor-made for a Johnson breakout, this looks like it.
Defensively, Broncos playmakers have yet to crack the top20 in either week, with Moreno featured in week 1 and McGahee in week 2. McGahee compiled 100+ yards last week, but took 29 touches to do so. This appears to be a great game to review the progress of the defense as well, as holding the Broncos without a top20 playmaker for a third week would at least cement the Titans defense as average to above average.
I'll be posting the retroactive numbers for Week 1 later today, as some of the performances have changed with the incorporation of Dominance. I'm also anticipating providing team and player yearly breakdowns after week 4, when statistical outliers should have enough offsetting performances to provide a clear picture.

Thanks for all the work you put into this. It’s very interesting stuff. I wonder if this:
While maybe he does need reps, or maybe glasses, it is worth noting that both the Ravens and Jaguars have yet to give up a top20 playmaking performance this year, so maybe the early gauntlet is partly to blame.might actually be a problem for him.
