Doesn't get much easier than the Titans had it last night, but it's still good for this team to be building confidence every chance they get.
Karl Klug continues to be a beast. Klug has been a surprise since the first day of camp, and he capped off a great preseason with a sack for a safety and several other nice plays throughout the whole game. The explosion of depth at the DT spot has really helped cover-up the depletion at the DE spot.
Kenny Britt returned to the field last night, though he didn't get a catch. What really jumped out at me was how much Britt was talking and joking with his teammates. You could just feel how happy he was to be back out there. That's great to see considering how much BS he put himself through this offseason. If he let that kind of stuff get him down, he'd only be compounding on the problems he helped create.
Paul K be lovin' our rookies as well. Tommie Campbell is a lock to make the 53 man roster at this point.
Hawkins might have shown some life last night, but it's too little too late. Williams is a lock to make the roster, but he's got to show more as a WR if he's going to be the true no. 3 in that group.
Bill Witz of FoxSports.com says that CJ2K's new contract is just another sign that the NFL is entering a new Golden Age.
Kevin Curtis injured his hand after making two catches last night, and it'll be interesting to see what the coaching staff does with him. My guess/hope is that both Curtis (sorry) and Gage are gone, and we go sign the best guy who gets cut from another team.

Is it just a matter of him having been so good relative to his draft spot that Jurrell Casey seems to have been somewhat forgotten? Or has Casey dropped off? At the beginning of camp, Casey was the guy we were talking about; now it’s Klug. Nothing wrong with that, just wondering if it’s more to do with Klug doing so well than Casey having problems.

It’s not that Casey has played poorly, it’s just that Col. Klug has really shined. I also think that Curran has been playing well also (liked him against Chicago…I didn’t see last night’s game yet). And TOMMIE!!….what can I say about this kid. As soon as we heard this kid’s story, I said he was going to be a star. It should be illegal for someone to be that big, and that fast. So glad we got him.

… I think that having him change positions now after having no offseason and a short camp is a mistake.
They can always sign a veteran to hold down the fort until other guys get healthy.

I’d love to have ESPN Insider but…
… when they offered it to me free for subscribing to their magazine, I was told that I had to give them a credit card number in order to get the service. The service is apparently tied to their automatic renewal service on the magazine’s subscription.
Since I have no credit cards, I told them to forget the whole thing. If they want me to take their magazine then they need to get rid of the credit card requirement…

Wow, that is not an obvious conclusion at all.
As a Titans fan I can’t help but revel in it. Manning may still be able to play, but it is obvious he is older and may even be starting to break down despite not taking many hits. Freeney and Mathis are both north of 30. And I think their depth is not nearly as good as it’s made out to be, Manning makes a lot of those guys on offense look better than they would be with someone else (Collins) at QB. And the defense goes as much as Freeney and Mathis do, they rely a ton on those two getting pressure.

Agreed.
He’s still raw and I think needs a good amount of work in throwing from the pocket, but you have to be happy that he’s at least shown potential and looks to be ready to go when he’s outside the pocket. If he can just fix/master the mechanics from the pocket…we’ll have a keeper. I’m way more excited about his future than I would be if I were a fan of any of the other rookie QBs, Sunshine has looked terrible for instance.

I agree Ron that he needs more reps/work from the pocket.
He has shown he could benefit from more a couple times this preseason. However, he’s also shown that he’s made huge strides already. What throws he threw from the pocket last night, his mechanics looked solid to me. But then, I’m not a pro at juding that.

Most teams seem to ruin their QBs when they start them right away as rookies.
I don’t see Newton being another Peyton Manning. He might be a good QB down the road but I believe they should sit him and let him watch for at least half the season…

coming from the guy that was the least accurate QB from the draft class. i like the progression of his throws. they don’t have him out there throwing deep fades every play, but vary it up with a lot of different short throws.
We all knew he was going to put in the work to make it happen and he did.

FWIW, my opinion changed after actually watching all his games.
I haven’t seen last night’s game. It’s recording. I’m curious to see how he looks.
Pre-season success ≠ future success, but it’s a step in the right direction.
He looked very, very good again last night.
Though I stress not putting too much importance on a preseason game.

He looked really great last night, he's definitely minimizing the questionable throws
seems like he is settling it a bit more. I am still glad he is sitting behind Hasselhoff, but the future looks bright.

Then there are problems. And, when your pass defense (last year and this preseason) is downright horrendous, then the Jags may be pushing for that #1 draft pick slot next draft.

I think they had one of the worst defensive passer ratings last year (opponent QB had average passer rating near 100 against them).
This preseason was actually worse…here are the passer ratings from the 4 starting QBs they faced in preseason: Bradford (135.8), Fitzpatrick (158.3), Ryan (95.4), Hoyer (111.4).
The Jags D is absolutely horrible…and their QB/WR situation may be worse.

everybody overlooks the Jags because they don’t remember to care about them. i think they are on their way to a top 10 draft pick next year. probably new coach too since Del Rio is a poor mans Jeff Fisher.
