Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Post-Tryout Tuesday Edition
Yesterday was what's becoming an unofficial NFL Holiday for free agents, called 'Tryout Tuesday'. It's the first Tuesday after the week one games are completed, when teams bring in free agents they're interested in because their contracts won't be guaranteed like they would have if they'd been on the roster for the opening game. The Titans worked out 6 DEs, and former Titans Jacob Ford and Dominique Edison worked out for Detroit and Houston respectively. It's worth noting that Keith Bulluck is currently an UFA, and he doesn't appear on this list. That surprises me, and it's not a good sign for Bulluck, who sounded like he still wanted to play at the end of last season.
On a related note, Frank Walker spent the preseason with the Titans, and now he'll spend the regular season with the Cowboys.
Don Banks calls Matt Hasselbeck's INT inexcusable, but I'd say the same thing about the interior O-line struggles and Chris Johnson's ineffectiveness. Hasselbeck and Britt both botched that last play, but those two were also the only reason we had a single point on the board.
Jim Wyatt knows 5 things about the Titans.
Answer: no.
The Fifth Down's Andy Benoit tabs Jared Cook's blocking as one of the disappointments of last Sunday's game. That being said, he ran so many routes that he only got the chance to block a few times
Kenny Britt's next court date has been rescheduled.
The Titans could face the Ravens' 2010 second round pick Sergio Kindle, who has yet to play in the NFL, on Sunday.
KSK skipped over LOL and right to ROFLMAO with the Hacksaw Jim Duggans allusion.
How long before Denver figures this out?

I'll continue to beat the drum...
This team’s fate lies solely with the offensive line. We are built to run the football and have an efficient passing game. With 1 regular season game and the 4 preseason games done, its no surprise that Hasselbeck and Locker looked very good when they had time in the pocket, and bad when they didn’t. If we can get average to above average line play, I think both our running game and passing game issues will be fixed. It will also give our defense some time off the field.
And that is why I’m so ticked off our offensive line is terrible.

Meh, it also lies with our safeties and linebackers being able to cover.
And the front seven getting pressure, they allowed way too many third-and-long conversions.

I always expected our defense to be middle-of-the-pack, so perhaps that's why I'm less angry with them.
They’re a work in progress, and have a long ways to go. We have some major talent holes on D. But we have the makings of a very, very strong offense, however with no o-line, they’re not going to move at all.

A tired defense
is a horrible defense.
it takes so much more energy on a pass play than a run play, especially on the D-line

I think the defense was fine
It may seem like “too many third and long conversions” but the reality is there were only 3. They really settled down after the first half. Lets hope what we saw for the first 30 mins was rust and they can come out settled this week.

it's still 320+ yards to a team with a crap QB
there’s really no sugar coating it.

meh
yards are meaning-less, we always had a good scoring defense that never let other teams score… now… we need to get our offense in check and we win games
Did a troll named TitanKiller just get pwned by another Jags fan....
YOU FAIL!!!!!
yards are not meaningless
they are just less meaningful than points. the Ravens run game is just as good, if not better, and their passing game is miles ahead of jacksonville’s. you don’t win giving up 400+ yards per game unless your offense wins the shoot out. can’t see that happening against the Ravens D.

... ooooooooorrrrrr they kick a shit-ton of field goals
scoring is more important than yards (i know you said that, just reiterating) FACT:the Jags had a very good statistical game against us… then should’ve been a blow-out, well no it wasn’t, well it at least should’ve been a shoot-out, well it wasn’t that either, then you have to assume that yards allowed albeit important to the bottom line of things, are not exactly THE most important thing a defense should worry about…
Did a troll named TitanKiller just get pwned by another Jags fan....
YOU FAIL!!!!!
point remains
giving up 300+ yards to a one-dimensional offense is a bad omen for things to come, esp. when playing a team that runs and passes better than the team we just gave up 300 yards to.

The Dual Threat, Official Enforcer/Stat Geek of MCM.
it's all about the situation
and i feel it wasn’t exactly a good one for us
Did a troll named TitanKiller just get pwned by another Jags fan....
YOU FAIL!!!!!
as a defense of course
Did a troll named TitanKiller just get pwned by another Jags fan....
YOU FAIL!!!!!
hal is right
If you spend 3/4 of the game giving the other a million yards, it doesn’t mean shit that they only get field goals, if your offense can’t do anything. It only works if your offense is taking 2mins to score, not 2mins to go 3 n’ out.

I was asking questions in an online chat 2 weeks ago and…
… the media football expert (who’s name escapes me) told me he believes Bulluck never completely recovered from that injury he had with the Titans and that’s why he is still available.
He went onto to say (sadly) he thinks Bulluck is finished…

That sucks, too because…
… I’d love to have #53 back on the squad if he could still make a go of it…

People are putting a lot of stock in that final play when Hasselhoff got a little trigger happy trying to make a play ((have to remember he was mentored my the Gunslinger himself)) to win, but fail to give him credit for bringing us within 2 points of winning after 1 half of entire team horribleness.

I think people defending him is equally questionable
He’s getting paid 9 million dollars to make that play. In the end, he probably deserves both the blame and the credit.

Well basically that ball should have never been thrown there. So while he did make the play, it was the wrong play to be made.

That last play magnifies it all.
If that happens earlier in the game and we go on to win, it’s nothing but a blip. In fact, if we go on to kick the game-winning FG and Bironas misses it…who gets the blame then?
It was overthrown, yes, but it was one play that happened to be at the end of the game when we had a shot to win. Hasselbeck deserves some blame for forcing it, but there were a myriad of other issues that caused this team to lose that should not fall on his shoulders at all. One play does not a game make.

I just realized by looking at my profile
that today is my 1 year anniversary on MCM. Awesome.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

if washburn where here maybin and brown would be steals but idk what kind of talent tracy rocker can get out guys
2011 best titans draft class!!!
About Johnson:
He was underused, but 49 yards on 15 touches against that defense is the kind of thing that leads to point-shaving investigations.
Kinda funny.
