Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Navigating The Highs And Lows Edition
SI.com tabs Javon Ringer and Jamie Harper as possible surprise starters for week one. Also, I wouldn't go as far as they do in calling Harper has 'excelled' this preseason. He's been nice behind some very good blocking, but he's still not showing the vision, power or blocking prowess of a good NFL back. He's got potential, but he's absolutely and nifty 3rd running back at best this year.
As the final cut down to 53 approaches, there are several positions where the competition to make the roster is going right down to the wire. Jimmy and I covered these at length on Sunday's MCM Radio, but guys like Myron Rolle, Robert Johnson, Rennie Curran and Byron Stingley could all be cut despite being solid draft picks over the past two years. It'll also be interesting to see who makes it on to the practice squad and who gets claimed.
Frank Walker is one of those guys battling for one of the last spots on the roster, and the competitiveness that's bringing to the practices is palpable everywhere. It's been a big area of focus for Munchak, and the players appear to love having the speed and intensity of their workouts amped up over the malaise that had set-in during the past 5 years of the Fisher regime.
John Clayton put together his own list of QBs in the NFL, and he ranked Matt Hasselbeck as the 24th best in the league. At least the arrow is pointing up for Hass. Paul K rightly points out that the immediate upside of Hasselbeck in Nashville is somewhat inflated by the duo he's replacing.

That PFW piece is pretty off on their first paragraph about the offense
They say that “Palmer will keep most of the previous playbook in place” … which would be amazing considering Palmer has his own playbook and offense (and the fact that we have ran more screens in preseason than we did all of the last 2 years).
Next sentence says “The Titans want to control the clock by wearing down defenses on the ground” … yeah, that worked well last year. Run CJ up the middle again…we need to control the clock!!
Hall's leap reminded me so much of Hawk's leap last preseason.
Maybe Hawk started a trend, the preseason leap of faith!
Agreed.
But still.
did hall really jump as high as it looks in the pic?

Those pictures are fantastic.
I’ll be shocked if any of those four guys listed make the final cut. I’d personally like to see either Rolle or Johnson on the practice squad (if eligible), and Stingily for sure. Big guy who could probably use the development.

OT:
I hate how all the best college football games are jammed together..there’s not 1 good game on until 8 on saturday and the LSU game and the Georgia-Boise game are at the same time
meanwhile
what good games are on tonight? I wish they put one of those on to start off the season tonight
"Coach Mike Munchak has a staff filled with fresh ideas, and his no-nonsense approach has a refreshing feel to it. His primary theme is simple: He asks players to know what to do, and to do it."
I just read this from Kuharsky.
The guy is just hilarious! I wonder if any coach has a “yes-nonsense” approach.
And Munchak asks players to know what to do and do it!! This is great, but wtf was Fisher doing?? Asking players to know what to do but don´t do it??
Kuharsky should be Bleacher Report president!
"He's an amazing talent. He's probably the most explosive back since Marshall Faulk and Barry Sanders." - Eddie George, about CJ.
who knows?!

i'm not sure about Myron Rolle being a solid draft pick
i guess he’s done what is expected of most 6th round picks – nothing at all
I'm a fake Titan fan and proud of it.
