The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with safety Anthony Smith. He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Green Bay Packers last season. He appeared in 7 games.

This signing tells me that the team has absolutely no confidence in the young safeties Robert Johnson, Myron Rolle and Nick Schommer. Smith isn't coming in here to push Chris Hope or Jordan Babineaux. He is coming here to add depth at the position, and there would be no reason for them to sign him if they had any confidence in the guys already on the roster.

So we've signed 1 alright safety and 1 depth chart safety...

Why did we not just go for 1 quality safety when they were available?

Maybe an early target in next years draft!

That's interesting.

And telling of what a staff turnover can mean for guys. Schommer was supposed to get a bigger look late last year from that staff, right? And so much for our boy RoJo pushing for the starting job.

Methinks safety may get an early look in FA and/or the draft next offseason.
