Does anyone else feel this way?
Today, I am a 19 year old kid, who attends college in Steeler Country, and lives in a home filled with Jet fans. Growing up, I never really liked the Jets, and before I turned 9 years old I fell in love with Steve McNair. There was little doubt after watching #9 play, that my favorite team was the Titans. At 9, I did not care about too much else, other than how cool and how tough I thought McNair was. Through the Jeff Fisher years, I grew frustrated that they never replaced him, and that the game seemed to be changing, but the class and toughness that the organization had with McNair I thought remained until Vince took over in 09. In 2009, for the first time, the franchise was not about winning games, instead the goal was to get CJ the ball and let him accumulate yards. I understood why, and it was fun to watch for 5 weeks.
In 2008, CJ had a nice first quarter and a half against the Ravens, but then sat on the side with an injury. I completely understand he was hurt, but imagine #9 sitting out of a Raven-Titan playoff game with an injury.
That point is irrelevant, but since his 2009 season, all CJ has spoken out about is getting paid, and appeasing fantasy owners. His antics against Jacksonville, dancing up 30 points, (no matter what bs timeout thing espn was pulling) and continuing to complain out loud about his contract continue to drive me crazy.
I hope he gets in camp, because I would like to watch a competitive team every sunday, but does any other Titan fan feel like this guy is just kind of a jerk?
The comparisons to the late great McNair, are not a delusional me wanting him back, but merely a point as to why CJ is not the man nor the true great competitor that ought to be the centerpiece of a great NFL franchise.
Would love feedback.

Hey thats truth!!
ohh man its nice to remember the “9” again, all of his toughness right there in the field with a multiple injuries and win some games for this team DAMN!! obviously he loves football more than the money. Thats one of the things that arent in mind of CJ!! cause he only thinks about the cash!! he need to put his feet on earth and his ass on the camp!!
ill still thinking that CJ is a great RB and maybe will be the best of all time
but he need to learn some of “9s” ethics to be remebered as one of the best.

I feel you
I wouldn’t go as far to say that CJ is a jerk, but he certainly can’t hold a candle to McNair. Honestly I think the days of players like McNair are gone. I’d love to be proven wrong however.
Don't overlook Locker...
I think he has what it takes to be a player like Mac. He seems to have the leadership qualities. He’s played with broken ribs, so he’s shown toughness. So, maybe, just maybe. We’ve got a guy in the mold of Mac now. At least we can hope.
The Force is with you, young SkyLocker, but you are not a Jedi... yet!
#9 was my hero growing up
And when I was almost grown I envied the talent of Chris Johnson, the dude is tougher than you think, and we shouldn’t build our team around one player at all… sets you up for failure, now a running back with as talented as him makes your team a contender every year…. IF we use him right, Chris hasn’t spent the off season speaking of getting paid, in fact, its like the thing he speaks little of, mostly he’s promoting other shit, BUT… in his rare football quotes this off-season was about his desire to go back to the play offs… the man wants to win, and he seems content doing what’s asked of him AFTER they address his contract issues, I’d rather him holdout now than wait till free agency and be taken by another team… this is a franchise back, and he can be the thing that gets the Titans into a better position in the league…
Collins gave us the best chance to win ma ballz

In defense of CJ2K
RB is a 5 year prime at best. I can’t blame him for wanting to be paid before his skill set eventually dimishes and he gets lucky to get 10 mil guarenteed let alone 25-30. He has outperformed his contract and can eclipse 2k yards rushing again while he is still in his prime. McNair was a leader. In 08, in that game there may as well have been a bounty on CJ’s head the way the Ratbirds were deliberatly trying to injure him (watch the replays). Already injured, god knows what more damage they would have done to him and he wasn’t as effective injured. I miss McNair but I have a feeling Locker might just step up and take leadership when he takes over. I know the feeling, I live in Jersey, its all Jets, Giants, Steelers and Eagles where I live and go to college. I’m lucky enough to know three other Titans fans on my campus.
Oh hai MCM
oh no! he dances and wants a new deal! what a dick!
run ins with the law? on-field examples of poor conduct? fights with other players, that kind of thing? disturbs the locker room by bad mouthing teammates?
nope, not seeing it.
Damn it feels good to be a contributor, Music City Miracles.

And plus the thing vs jacksonville

It's hard, but sometimes you have to separate the game of football from the business side of football.
The two sides contradict eachother all the time as we’ve seen. In the game of football you keep Steve McNair until her retires and use him as a mentor and then backup to VY when his time comes. The business end of football says you can’t afford to hold on to players past their prime with large salaries and we can list a billion instances of this from Joe freakin’ Montana playing for the Chiefs to our own Keith Bulluck. The bottom line remains that in a decade or less, CJ has got to earn a lifetime’s worth of wages to support himself, his future medical bills, and his family. His greatest moment of value when he has the highest earning potential is right now so while I want him on the field yesterday, I completely understand his motives from the business side of football. Is CJ selfish – absolfreakinglutely – but can I or probably more importantly can his teammates blame him? I cannot, and they all have publicly said they don’t.
MCM's First Best Player Available (or Jake Locker) FanBoy!
If CJ
Is the man or a team player he would be in camp trying to get this hashed out! No i don’t think he should practice and chance getting hurt but he needs to be there. very nice post.

Nobody says a WORD
when Albert Haynesworth got paid 80+ million dollars. Eagles gave Nnamdi 60 million for 5 years. Fitzgerald just got paid 120 MILLION.. BUt when it comes to our star, we need to let him go!!!!
SO NO THIS IS NOT CJ’s FAULT. HE DESERVES THIS CONTACT.
if none of you ever care about making it to the super bowl, then trade him!
Pay the man or ELSE BUD……
