sick of reinfeldt and webster
this front office blows, they play the sit around and wait game way to much and miss out on good players that can help the team, they don't move quickly to re-sign any of there own, they show no loyalty or trust with any of there players let alone extend there best player's contract whos become one of the best players in the league. they got all there draft picks signed; good for them but thats something that should be expected, I'm actually surprised they got all of them in on time considering reinfeldt seems to work a 1030sih maybe 11:00, than take an hour and half lunch at noon than go home at 3 timetable. if they keep low-balling everyone, the titans will continue to lose there good drafted players and acquire mediocare ones like will witherspoon and nick harper haha, i remember when harper was our "big" acquisition that year when they wouldn't pony up any money for clements and I doubt they go after clements again they will just be happy with the rapidly declining play of courtland finnegan (how do they think this guy can actually cover elite receivers anymore? absolutely pwned everytime he faces andre johnson or any other top notch receiver) I don't post on here much and I'm from canada so the internet is my only source for news, I don't hear anything locally but its just getting really frustrating up hear, chomping at the bit for some good news!!! I like the job the FO does drafting and scouting but it sure is getting sickening waiting around for reinfeldt to actually do something to make this team alot more competitive, you cant win the south with the secondary were going to field next year, plain and simple and day by day while reindfeldt plays the waiting game good players are getting signed, I'm sure he's on his way home right now alr

and as I type this dawan landry signs with jags and harvey dahl goes to the rams with news of leroy harris looking elsewhere now because he wasnt heard from the titans in 2 days, I dont care what anyone says they move to slow, they dont think they have to pay anyone, really frustrating to be a titans fan right now, alway will be but just sayin
Lol, get a grip.
Mike is extremely respected and a very intelligent man. There is a reason all these people are free agents. We have always played the waiting game. Just who exactly were you planning on signing and wanted us to sign? We got Matt, we got Shaun, we have done some good things.

Did you ever think that maybe the big name free agents don’t/didn’t want to come here? Rookie HC and mostly new coaching staff, small market, probably not going to the playoffs for a year or two… how exactly are they supposed to seduce Asomugha and others with those glaring drawbacks?

You go a little overboard
but you are not alone with your free agency frustration with this organization. It seems like every season they carry on with players that are done, who cost wins. Gage, Hope, Amano, I feel like each of those players cost the Titans games last year. We sit and watch as players who are clearly better get snapped up in free agency and in some cases it is for less money. This team has a build through the draft mentality and they don’t draft well enough to be that way. It makes for a frustrating free agency every year when we bring in guys like Jovan Haye, Will Witherspoon and Nate Washington and are told they are going to make the Titans better.
it’s a small market, we build through the draft. deal with it.

that’s what a rebuild is, turnaround time in the NFL can be extremely quick if the draft goes well. if the team tastes a little bit of success this year, maybe by some act of God an 8-8 record or above, then we should go all in on free agency and break the bank on a Ray Edwards or a Charles Johnson.
we’ve also signed a free agent DT, he’s not a gamebreaker, but that’s not what we need right now. way I see it, Brown and Jones will rotate in for the a large chunk of the PT and one will probably get injured, so Jones is still TBD. Casey and Marks provide some young depth, and at end we line up Morgan and Ball and possibly re-sign Ford given that Babin’s now gone. then we’ve still got Hayes hanging around somewhere. they’re not just going to leave the position blank, maybe some UDFA’s will fill up the roster spot, I don’t really know. I bet Karl Klug ends up at end too.
I know it’s tough to just sit here and say “well, we’ve got to just wait it out”, but that’s the mode we’re in right now.

I'm not trying to "bash" on anyone.
I’ve enjoyed DR05 since before he was a contributor. On this I disagreed, & he made a point that was invalid so I called him on it. & I certainly dont need it explained to me what this franchise does during the “rebuilding” years. I’ve seen it plenty in my 18yrs being a fan of them.
I would love to see them go for Mason, Heap, I would’ve liked to try Huff over Hope. I am thrilled they went for Rudd over Tully, & that they bring back the entire O line.
I dont want/expect big time signings like a Namdi. But when there are obvious holes, I hope they address them with quality guys, not bottom feeding scrubs who never play. They dont need much, IMO. Size&depth on Dline, they have a MLB now. Replacing Hope would be nice, but hopefully with Johnson.
Before I do anything I ask myself "Would an idiot do that?" And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing.

Don’t just complain about our front office to just complain. ’
What bottom feeding scrubs have we signed who will never play? It seems like it’s real cool to bash our front office for not being doing enough, but I think they have done a lot in FA.
I also think this team has a lot of talent on it that has been mis-managed in the last few years. And I think you agree with me by your mentioning of RoJo. (I also think that Hope will be a different player this year with some better coordinating/coaching than we had last year)

I completely agree on RoJo
The entire D should be better prepared each week.
Bottom feeders who dont play for their teams before they come here. Then play here. This franchise has done alot of that over the years
However, all of this started before they began making actual moves. Which was my original point. I know better than to expect big names to come in. but at the time this started on here, they hadnt made any real moves.
I LOVE that they added Rudd over Tully. & that they resigned Harris. Now with the addition of Graham at TE they have done a good job.
It would figure, that as soon as I complain about their lack of moves, they go & make some very good ones.
Before I do anything I ask myself "Would an idiot do that?" And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing.

" we build through the draft. deal with it."
We do? Teams that build through the draft would have something to show for the no 3 and no 6 pick overall, the Titans didn’tt. Teams that build through the draft don’t draft Lendale White or Chris Henry in the second round. Like I said the Titans don’t draft well enough to build through the draft. When the Titans went out and got guys like Mawae, Hope, Thornton and even Harper it improved the team greatly. That wasn’t building through the draft.
well, not all picks are hits, and given that Reinfeldt made neither of those picks I think it’s safe to say that the new management is a step up from the old regime (though Floyd gets credit for Finnegan). this is a guy who got a top receiver and the top running back in the last three picks of the first round in back to back years. he’s also drafted the better part of the league’s best tackle tandems in the second round. we’ll also still get see where the Jared Cook pick goes.

I'm going to have to correct you there, sorry.
It’s the draft geek in me but Roos and Stewart were both drafted in 2005, under Reese/Fisher. Reinfeldt’s first draft as GM was 2007, when he took Griffin and made his biggest mistake in Chris Henry. I do believe outside of that he’s done pretty well, and it’s still too soon on several of his draft classes.

Well, you could be a Bears fan.
My wife has been screaming about how Angelo’s an idiot letting go of Olsen and signing a bum like Roy Williams, not extending Forte (yet), and not getting some additional interior protection for Cutler. I don’t blame her.
I would say that we had a very good draft, and got the FA QB we wanted. Not bad. I would love to get a guard and a DE, but probably won’t happen. Unless a deal doesn’t work out with CJ, I don’t think we can be too disappointed.
My dad is happy they let Olsen go.
He is a TE and he can only do 1/2 the job a TE is suppose to. He cant block.

So you'd rather have a TE that can catch and cant block, when we have a RB like CJ?
So when he goes into the game we are giving away what we are going to do on that play which is pass, cause he cant block? Gates, Tony G, and “Crump when younger” are the best TE because they can block and are able to catch. Same thing goes with HOF Shannon Sharpe.

I heard no complaining about Finnegan’s play then but now the season is over I hear people say Finnegan is garbage. Covering Johnson and Wayne and having Hope “cover your back” makes things look worse than they are.

Tuesday, 7/12/11, 1:59 PM.. I have officially bought into the Jordan Jefferson hype
what the h are you going on about?
The NFL isn’t baseball. All teams have a specific range to spend on player salaries. Big market/Small market only affects the popularity of the team (due to advertising). The only way that affects FAs is the players wanting to get more national exposure.
Arizona can be considered a small market and they landed the biggest QB free agent. That’s a pretty big splash for newspapers, etc.
“how small market teams operate”… BS. It might be how THIS front office operates, but the market size doesn’t influence all teams in such a generalized way.
I agree with you here oilertitan

but i wouldn’t go as far as to say “nothing”. (it surely seems the case that the Redskins seek out players for the big names instead of how they fit into their schemes.) … but it isn’t a cut and dried rule that all small/large market teams act in a certain way.

2. it’s call puncation, use it.
3. @oilertitan: kolb wasn’t a free agent. arizona traded a second rounder and a great young cornerback for him. they overpaid big time for that “splash.”
4. you don’t buy championships in football. every year the cowboys and the redskins make huge splashes in free agency yet still blow.
5. every team that has won the superbowl this decade is a team that rarely does anything newsworthy in free agency. new england is the one exception, but that has only been recently and they haven’t won anything since then. indy, spittsburgh, green bay, and new orleans? these are all teams that build through the draft and add role players in free agency.
6. nate clements in sf is one of the biggest free agency busts i can remember
