What the Matt Hasselbeck signing means to me

What the Matt Hasselbeck signing means to me. Right now I have mixed emotion on the signing of Matt Hasselbeck. On one hand it’s a proven Veteran who has done things right throughout his career. He is of good character and leadership. He will be a great example for Jake Locker to learn how to be a pro. Locker doesn’t need Hasselbeck to teach him how to throw the ball and where and when. He knows how to throw it and the coaches will teach how and when. Hasselbeck is here to be the example of leadership and how to handle pressure and mistakes. With that said agreeing to terms with Matt Hasselbeck has now in my view changed the priorities of the Team. Our #1 priority is no longer any position on Defense, it’s not another WR, It’s not even signing CJ to a long term contract. The #1 priority now should be fixing the Offensive line. Shoring up the interior line JUST HAS to be #1. If not then the signing of Matt Hasselbeck is a waste. Without fixing the offensive line Jake Locker would have to be 3rd string behind Rusty Smith. Why you may ask? Simple. Matt Hasselbeck has a chronic back problem and ANYONE who has ever had back problems or KNOWN someone who has knows very well the problems and concerns associated with them. Even after surgery and rehab!!! Back problems linger and in some case NEVER go away Every QB is one Hit away from being listed as "out" every week. But with a back problem it is magnified 10 folds. Hasselbeck isn’t just one hit away. He’s one wrong move away. So is Hasselbeck a better mentor on the field or on the injury report? If the Titans do NOT fix the line, mainly the interior line then we are back to square one with Either Rusty Smith or Jake Locker starting.
