Titans: the good, the bad, and the ugly
The coaches:
Actually, the coach I'm most excited about is Jerry Gray. Munchak sounds great, but to me the reason why I'm less excited so far is because he seems to be more of your "manager - type coach", that seems to just get the right people where they need to be, ( coaches and players) and just supervise; then just make corrections as they go. Which is fine, Fisher seem to do a lot of that. I mean, that's why you hire the right offense and defense coordinators and let them do their job. If you hire the right people, then you don't need to go in there yelling at everybody and stepping on anyone's toes and whatever, you just manage. Which is fine just to do that, but that's why I reserve judgement on O' big Mike. But I like Jerry Gray, he's a schemer. He's talking about switching up things on defense, he's not afraid to put in a few 3-4 looks, he seems to know the type of players he wants and goes after them (hence the defense heavy draft), So as far as the coaches go, he's the one I'm most excited about.
As far as my take on player:
QB: I know a lot of people have jumped on the "Lets start Locker from day one," *caugh cj caugh*, but the truth is, he's just not ready. Now the way I see it, you could either say , " Well, we are going to suck anyway, so we might as well get Jake a full season of practice and we'll try again next year" and put him in game 1", or you could say, " come on guys, we need to at least give 2011 they best shot we can, at least starting out"- and that means starting a Vet. at QB. And that all depends on when the lockout ends, if it ends tomorrow, I say try to get the best free agent available- I mean maybe not Kolb, but lets try for someone other than Collins, unless the lockout ends a week before game one, then get Collins in here quick. But I just don't want to hear any of this- He knows the Titans, crap reason- lets face it, he's use to the two-tone blue and some of the faces are familiar but he don't know the play book any better. He's just a old vet that happens to be around. I mean, I love Collins, but I'm sure would be just as happy doing country music on Sundays than to take sacks, but then again- loves his team and knows how to play.
The second need is WR. Britt is good if the can stay healthy and out of trouble. But I mean after him who do we have, Washington? Gage? The new coaching staff talked about being more pass friendly- lets get some WR's once this thing is over, if we can- again depending how when the lockout ends, I'll like to get some more super stars to help out our new rookie QB
Also on offense, I feel like out O-line slipped from '09. Again, I'm thinking CJ and Locker needs like a top 5 O-line, but the coaching staff seems to be confident, and with Munchak and Matthews as coaches who's to argue, but I just feel like he holes for CJ wasn't like I thought they should be last year.
On Defense, I feel like we're pretty well off. Outside at looking at perhaps another safety, I like what I'm seeing. I think the loss of coach Wash is going to hurt, but I feel like we're in good hands. I can't wait to see what Morgan is going to do, I love ATV, I think the rookies are going to be exciting. Like someone said after the draft, we didn't seem to draft a lot of unknowns from odd school, so I'm excited. As long as we still having Finn pick fights, and Orton crying to mommy that we're "dirty", I'm happy.
So as long as we get a few holes taken care of, and if the lockout can end soon. I think we might be better than people think. Now I'm now yelling playoffs or anything, I'm realistic, but I think we'll do alright.

If you had to be perfect to do what we do, then nobody would be doing it. On the other hand, if everyone could do what we do.....then everyone would be doing it.

The big problem with all this is
with a new coaching staff and new QB and other new players, an entire offseason really would have been beneficial to learning the new system(s) and such. But best case scenario we’re looking at them getting a decent training camp in trying to install the systems. Yeah they’re pro’s but even they need a grace period to learn/adjust to the new schemes and the lockout really screwed that up for us.
