Alterraun Verner

 

 High School Achievements at Mayfair High School

 

Alterraun Verner attended Mayfair High School in Lakewood, CA where he led his team to a 10-2 record during his senior season.  He caught 50 passes for 907 yards, made 13 touchdowns, and recorded 56 tackles with four interceptions, including one that he returned for 102 yards for a touchdown.  He also gained 407 yards with a touchdown from seven kickoff returns, and 100 yards on four punt returns. During his junior season, he was an All-CIF SS Division VI first-team choice on offense by pulling down 32 passes for 705 yards with 11 touchdowns. Alterraun earned Academic All-Suburban League honors as a sophomore; he posted 15 receptions for 250 yards and one touchdown and was credited with 25 tackles on defense. He lettered four times in track and field, as he competed in the high jump, pole vault, 100m, 4x100-meter relay, 4x400 relay, 110m hurdles, 300m intermediate hurdles, long jump, 800m run and 4x200m relay events.  He was named the team’s Most Valuable Performer as a freshman.  While serving as the track teams co-captain his sophomore and junior year, Al won the league first place titles in the high jump, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. He was a four-time school Honor Roll Student. He later added Scholar-Athlete honors to his resume after attaining a 4.17 grade point average at Mayfair which set him up perfectly for is next phase in life. 

 

UCLA Career

 

In the classroom, Alterraun was a three-time Academic All-Pac 10 selection, compiling a 3.08 Grade Point Average in Mathematics/Applied Sciences at UCLA. On the field, in four seasons at UCLA (2006-09), Verner started in 35 of 50 games and recorded 272 tackles with 11.0 stops for losses.  He tied for seventh in school history with 13 interceptions during his career, with his five interceptions during his senior year representing the most by a Bruin in a season since 1997.  He also holds the schools career-record with four interception returns for touchdowns. Verner will be graduating from UCLA with a degree in Mathematics /Applied Science in the Spring of 2011.

 

Pro Career with Titans

 

 Alterraun appeared in all 16 games in his 1^st NFL season, with 12 starts at Cornerback and collected 103 tackles. He led the team with 15 passes deflections, and finished second on the squad with three interceptions. He also finished fourth on the squad with 103 tackles. He either led or tied the team in tackles three times in 2010 (vs. IND, vs. HST, at IND). He led the team in pass defense three times in 2010 (vs. DEN, at JAX, vs. WAS). Verner either led or tied for the team four times in special teams tackles in 2010 (vs. OAK, vs. PIT, at NYG, at MIA). Verner made his first career start at cornerback against Denver (10/3/10). He collected a career-best 12 tackles against Indianapolis (12/9/10).

Welcome to the Camp of Champions. Our Three Day Damp will feature instruction on seven individual positions: Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, Offensive Line, Defensive Line, Linebackers, and Defensive Backs.

 

Our Coaching Staff prides itself on 2 CIF Championships, 13 League Championships, taking 6 teams to CIF Finals, and chalking up over 200 High School Football victories.

 

From our Camps, thirty-six High School players have earned college scholarships, and two currently play in the NFL.
