Todd McShay 2012 NFL Mock Draft
I know everyone loves a good 11 1/2 month early mock draft. Todd McShay of ESPN has put out his initial 2012 mock draft (In$ider), and has the Titans picking Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech with the 8th pick. A lot of "experts" leading up to the 2011 NFL draft had the Titans taking a corner high, and I never could figure out why.
Tennesee may not have the best corners in the league, but they have a lot of quality depth at the position. I expect Cortland Finnegan to bounce back from an off year last year. I also expect Alterraun Verner and Jason McCourty to continue to get better. My prediction is at the end of the season we will be talking about corner as a strength of this team.
Here is what McShay had to say about the pick:
Hosley is an underrated cover corner with good ball skills.
That doesn't really sound like a guy I want 8th.
Nice play in the picture though..

Jayron Hosley has 9 interceptions this season.
And was VT’s best secondary member by far.

yeah
while they’re at it, why stop at 2012? why don’t they do a mock draft til 2100 and put a grade on each team’s draft every year.

FREE AGENCY - when it begins
I knew I would have to wait until 2012 to get a top 10 CB.
We drafted a CB in the 7th round. Does anyone know how good this Tommy Campbell is?
Campbell:
“Not an aggressive tackler. Does not like to be physical with receivers. Gives too much of a cushion and struggles to recover on comeback routes. Does not have great balance. Not comfortable in press coverage. Does not react quickly to pressure steps. Has difficulty shedding wide receiver blocks. Little urgency to contribute in run support. Does not have much of a closing burst. "
Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha & Michael Huff are both free agents.. I don’t see us winning the bidding war of this CB as it will go beyond any ceiling. I see the Eagles as the victor. Please don’t let a team in our division land this guy; no need to name those teams who need him more than we do. There is no one else left in free agency in the secondary worth grabbing. Carlos Rogers is available but still.
QB – check. Line & LBs: Check. Secondary: NO………I’ve heard your story a 1,000 times. We have Finnegan, ATv, & 5 other guys everyone likes. Well those 5 guys including McCourty still haven’t showed up. So if our team fails again in 2012. It will be more fault on our pass defense than our new offense. Which means we could take Hosley in the first round. If anyone wants our team to make it all the way; we need a new SS & CB DEPTH!!!

It would be nice to have a guy that can namdi half the field in a division with 2 top passing offenses.

It would be nice to land Asomugha...but I don't even
Think we’ll make the short list of whom he wants to go to…of course you do have to put it out there
