2011 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay Updated Mock Draft
Todd Mcshay has come out with a new mock draft, via video, and he has the Titans taking Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn. I am getting really tired of looking at mock drafts where the Titans take Fairley. It isn't that I don't like the pick, I just want to see some variety out there. McShay says that picking Fairley comes with a lot of risk, but it could also have a lot of reward. He calls him the best interior pass rusher in this draft.
Here are the seven picks before the Titans:
1. Carolina Panthers - Cam Newton, QB
2. Denver Broncos - Marcell Dareus, DT
3. Buffalo Bills - Von Miller, OLB
4. Cincinnati Bengals - A.J. Green, WR
5. Arizona Cardinals - Blaine Gabbert, QB
6. Cleveland Browns - Robert Quinn, OLB/DE
7. San Francisco 49ers - Patrick Peterson, CB

Its so boring.
Naturally we won’t take him at 8 now because everyone has us taking him.
Ain't no time for hesitatin'
All you got to do is groove
It occurred to me today that this is going to be the first time in a few years that I've disliked our top pick.
I loved the Britt and Morgan picks. The more I hear of Fairley the more confident I am that he’s going to be a massive flop.

I think we're overplaying the Rocker angle.
I like Rocker, he seems like he’ll be a good coach, but college coaches are still big risks, even if it is only as a position coach. I don’t know if you want to draft a guy because you believe his position coach will be the only one able to light a fire under him. A few other reasons:
a) To piggyback on the one above, I don’t think Fairley’s going to be motivated to succeed.
b) He’s only had one good year. His tape this year indicates he played outstanding. His tape from the year before was average. I always like to see a player have a good/great year, and then have another good/great year again because it takes more of the risk out of it. That shows me that even if teams are specifically scheming against him, he’s found ways to produce.
c) I’ve seen several sites questioning his work ethic (I guess a,b and c all tie together).
d) In general I have a strong hatred of boom or bust players.

I still can't believe people have Newton going first overall... ?
But overall I would be happy with Fairley on the Titans. I really like the Rocker/ Fairley reunion and think if there was anyone to get production out of him it would be Rocker.
inaccurate in college = inaccurate 4life!!
The hype machine at work again.
Newton at one point was considered a second-round guy due to his “project” nature at the NFL level…now he’s number one overall. Crazy.

As Titan fans we should be rooting like crazy for Newton to go first overall.
It’ll mean one more DL falls a little farther.

I'm all for it, push everyone else down and don't have the temptation of him being on the board at 8.

I wouldn't be for or against the pick
That is about where Fairley is valued and the Titans could use a DT with JJ being injury-prone and Brown on the back end of his career.
But, Munch/Gray/Rocker will need to stay on top of him…if they do, then I think he could be a very good player.
Right, and I think Thor will be doing his homework on these players
Me thinks he doesn’t want to start out his HC career drafting someone he doesn’t think he can control. Thor says he’s going to hold everyone accountable, so if they think he Fairley will be coachable, pull the trigger

the strangest part of carolina picking newton
Aside from the hype! So they draft him, he isn’t ready for next year, you let jimmy clausen tank it and throw some exta money in the veteran relief fund, for when clausen gets killed after 2 years of abuse on the gridiron. Then you have the #1 pick again… Where the consensus will be you should take Luck!
Ever since luck pulled out, this has been a no win situation for the panthers
I like Fairley, at #7 he is a value, hopefully he doesn’t need the dez bryant babysitting crew with him. Because if he does you know its getting exposed by the nashville pd.

BOWERS
Bowers > Fairley. Since this is a DEEP DT Draft. Let’s wait until 3rd to take another DT. Lets shore up the best DE available.Take QB in the 2nd, DT, then OLB in the 4th, G in the 5th, CB in the 6th, & WR in 7th. Boom!
If anyone wants a replacement for SS Hope’s spot: It should be Clemson SS McDaniels (rounds 3-5)! We Need Safety help over LB help. Spoon & Curran is still something.
& I am a Volunteer fan recomeending two ACC players!
Spiller & Ford didn’t get all of those TD’s by their selves!
