Best Titans Draft Picks, No. 2: WR Derrick Mason
Over the next few weeks heading up to the draft we will be highlighting the biggest busts and greatest picks in the history of the Titans. I have decided to only look at the picks the franchise has made since the move to Tennessee instead of trying to look back at the entire history of the franchise.
Now we will countdown the top 10 best picks in franchise history.
Derrick Mason was technically a pick for the Tennessee Oilers, but we couldn't ignore him after listing Kevin Dyson on the bust list. Mason was the 98th overall pick in the 1997 draft. It took him a few years to get on the field as a wide receiver, but once he did he was really good. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2003 as a receiver. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl and as an All-Pro in 2000 as a returner.
Top 10 Busts:
#10 Shad Meier
#9 Tyrone Calico
#8 Ben Troupe
#7 Courtney Roby
#6 Paul Williams
#5 Kevin Dyson
#4 Chris Henry
#3 Andre Woolfolk
#2 Adam Jones
#1 Vince Young
Top 10 Successes:
#10 Marc Mariani
#9 Bo Scaife
#8 Jevon Kearse
#7 Albert Haynesworth
#6 Keith Bulluck
#5 Michael Roos
#4 David Stewart
#3 Chris Johnson

I don't know why but this is so much more terrifying as a still-photo.
As a kid and now it has never disturbed me seeing this in the film (one of my all-time favorites, by the way)…for some reason seeing it frozen in time here is much more disturbing to me.

I remember seeing it as a child and it scared the crap out of me
It wasn’t enough to have all those spirits flying around taking the Nazi’s souls, but then BAM!!! Facemelting whilst screaming his balls out… my fragile mind wasn’t ready for that sort of extreme.

Why not? He's deserving
He isn’t necessarily one of the league’s top corners, but he has been to a Pro Bowl and has played far beyond his expectations considering that he was drafted in the 7th round
Go Titans! Go Magic!

He has. But Keith Bullock and Derrick Mason should be ahead of him. And I feel like a guy who is no. 1 should embody as much good as can be. A leader, strong player, and shows up in big games. Courtland is a thug in my mind. For a guy who is routinely matched up against the other team’s best receiver he has one season that jumps out. And there is that fight last season. But if he is no.1 they have their reasons for him being there. A guy that is a 7th rounder starting is something. I just don’t think he should be top 2.
He.Is.A.Seventh.Round.Pick!
Now he is defending the leagues best WRs. I say he’s earned the spot.

Finnegan needs to control himself on the field, but he is not a thug.

that’s funny, thugs don’t often win awards for community service.

*This
I love hearing people around the league and fans of other teams talk about how much of a “thug” he is, but in reality he’s never been in trouble, does tons of community service (running that marathon pushing the kid in the wheel chair was awesome too), and is a huge leader of this team. Just because he plays fiery on the field does not make him a thug-Pacman Jones style.

It's funny
I was telling Tuna the other day, last season when Andre Johnson sucker punched Cortland like a little bitch and we were flooded with Texan trolls telling us how much of a lowlife Finnegan is, I got to drive by a United Way billboard with his picture on it everyday.
I should have taken a picture of it. Dang it.

I REALLY.F-ING.Hate Andre Johnson ever since then
I always thought, “well he’s a Texan so he sucks, but he is a GD monster receiver” now I just flat out hate his bitch ass. Especially when he tried to play the sympathy card and say, “I don’t know what came over me”. F- you buddy.
And you should have taken a picture for the archives. A big STFU for whoever has a problem with Mr. Finnegan.
inaccurate in college = inaccurate 4life!!
come on, you know how the Texans fans got after that incident, it would’ve gotten real snarky in here real fast. a lot of “how ironic” posts coming our way I’d imagine.

I must clarify something. I love the Titans too. I think Courtland is a good player and his attitude helps him at times. Do I think he is a number 1 corner no. I guess one has to be confident to play corner in the NFL. But I’m not sure if Finnegan is exactly that. I’d like him to focus more. I’ve seen Andre Johnson hand him his lunch on several occasions. Andre is a good wide out no doubt. But I have often thought that Courtland needs to tone down his attitude. And I stand by my comments whole heartedly. My thug comment is based on his on the field self. Which can be tested.

I’ve seen Andre Johnson hand every other corner their lunch too. if that’s Finnegan’s biggest vice I think I can stomach him.

so he should not be fiesty?
that would suck, and since the nfl told him to tone down his play has dwindled.
Like when Orton was whining about him because he jumoed on an Olineman’s back (Oh wow, so painful) and because finnegan sacked him

what is up with people who label players thugs?
he’s no thug, he’s just a fierce little guy.
He had confidence going agaisnt someone who is 5 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier, and he showed restraint when he didnt throw a punch
Do you know of all his charities he does in the offseason?

Finny has to be #1
unless you’re going with VY in which case I say to you…ROSE BOWL MVP 2 YEARS IN A ROW BABY!!!! How was he so bad as a pro then? wahhhhh.
Go titans.
I live in the OC.
The one in OH.
Of course Finny is #1.
And it’s well deserved. He went from being a 7th round pick to one of the better CBs in the league.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

Screw Mason.
I hate that guy now. Not just because he’s a Ratbird, but because he trashed Tennessee for not re-signing him when we had CAP ISSUES and couldn’t.
