In this post i would like to go over what would really make us a better team rather than what we want because those two have been confused a lot.
Now most people would like to say that drafting a new QB is a need right now. While i agree i just dont see our future Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco in this draft. Maybe a Mark Sanchez or Ryan Fitzpatrick but thats really it. And the best one to fit that label IMO is Ryan Mallet. Think about it what we lose in Vince Young can be gained back in him in some capacity. A way to make the defense not just stack the box. With Vince Young he was a threat to run every play and the defense had to respect that. Ryan Mallet is a threat to throw it over the defenses head every play and that would force the defense to respect the passing game. But what we want is a guy like Andy Dalton who in some peoples opinion the best QB for us.Yes i admit he won a lot of games but against who. He played with lesser talent against lesser talent and won but he is better than a QB who won against SEC defenses and looked good doing it? Now as for Running Back i think as most people do that we need a big power back to spell Chris Johnson(i refuse to call him CJ2k until he does it again like he said). Someone i would like is the running back from Hawaii Alex Green who i think has an excellent combination of size and speed to the point where the offense barely loses a step when he's on the field. The Wide Receiver position is at the point where i have to choose between two things i want a lot. The young guys like Damian Williams and Marc Mariani to get playing time but i also want to get a WR who has proven himself in college as one the best at his level with A.J. Green and Julio Jones. Honestly either one would be great but drafting them greatly depends on what the team thinks of Kenny Britt. IMO he dosent deserve anything more than a one game suspension. I believe that the only reason this happened was because of the NFL lockout. I don't really classify this position as a need just something that we would like to boost up even more. Now on the defensive side there is a lot i can say. The D-Line needs help but i don't think it needs as much help as some of these mock drafters say it is. What is best for the Titans is a big DT not a DE but a DT. Why because when you have a space eating DT they can make any DE look good. And that's not including that we have Captain Morgan returning this season.I like the guy from Alabama Marcell Dareus who is an absolute monster and a safer pick than say Nick Fairley. We need some more Line Backers for sure though. but none of them really catch your eye except for Von Miller but he's is expected to be gone by our pick. So you look for guys in the third round for guys like Casey Matthews who's bloodline almost makes you drool at the lip.But his production doesnt really match his family's coming out of college and could be a huge letdown. Then we need help at the Safety Position because we are burdened with an aging Chris Hope . There has been a lot of hype around Robert Johnson but you have to think he was a 5th round draft pick for a reason. Now that's not to say he wont be good. But i think it's safe to say that the Titans late round success in drafts has left us a little optimistic. I think this is one of our biggest needs so i say go for the guy out of UCLA Rahim Moore in maybe the second round. This is what is best for the Titans in the long run if we want to get that elusive super bowl win that has become less and less likely these past few years.
