Jeff Fisher Places a Full Page Ad in The Tennessean

3az9_large_medium

While a lot of us have problems with Jeff Fisher on the field, there is no doubt he is a class act off the field. In this morning's Tennessean, he placed a full page ad in the sports section, which you can see above. The text is reposted after the jump.  Jeff Fisher meant so much to Nashvillians, and I wish him nothing but the best for the future.

Star-divide

With heartfelt gratitude I would like to thank all of YOU for your unwavering commitment and support through the years.

This has been an experience of a lifetime. Without the trust of Bud Adams and the entire organization none of this would have been possible. Words can't describe my feelings for all the players, coaches, and staff that have been part of this franchise.

I am honored to have been part of this legacy! Thanks for the memories!!

Jeff Fisher

That is a class act.

I hope he does well in the future. At this point the Titans had so many issues that I believe that the only way to correct the situation is a clean start. I would go on to say that they need a coach that is form outside the current organization.

man, the reality of this is setting in.

thinking about the hard times our franchise has ahead of itself(again) makes me think of clay travis saying that Titans fan may be the only fan actually hoping for the lockout, so we don’t have to endure this most likely dreadful next season.

and when we go 11-5 next year, everyone will shut up.

Fisher was not that good of a coach. I dont get why people think he was the glue that kept us together. Honestly, he should have been fired years ago.

Ya'll don't even know he was a virgin til he was 28, and now...Roll Tide.

He was the glue that kept it together

during the move from stadium to stadium as the franchise came from Houston. He was the glue that held things together and rebuilt a 1 seed in the AFC after the salary cap disaster.

It was time for Fish to go. But pretending like his tenure was a negative experience on the whole is neither accurate or fair to his place in Titans history.

Good Luck Jeff Fisher!

He was a good coach, may be was a coach for too long, but still a good coach. No matter who comes to replace him will have very big shoes to fill.

In less serious not do imagine in the part where it says:

“Words can’t describe my feelings for all the players” he instead would have put this:

“Words can’t describe my feelings for all the players (except Vince Young)”

Just joking a little bit.

Thank YOU, Coach

It was time for us to part ways, but I’ll always remember all the good you did for this franchise. I’ll be excited to see what the new coach can do, but it will be hard to envision the Titans without the image of Fisher on the sidelines.

Classy final words.

I agree with the post, on the field his time was probably up and this is probably ultimately for the best. Off the field, I will miss him for sure.

Jeff Fisher is such a great person

Yea, we had our problems with him no doubt. But the thing I love the most about that guy is how much he cares about our players and the fans. My favorite thing of him is when a player would go down because of an injury how he would always be out on the field, no matter who it was (minus VY) and see how they are doing and being with him. He knows that the players are someone’s father, brother, and son. That is something that means so much to players and families and we all hope he gets an opportunity somewhere in the league.

I wonder if LenDale White should get back on the tequila...

It was time for fisher to leave.

But I will miss him.

"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"

Yes,

This sums up the value in Fisher. I think the fact that he was able to cover up how crazy our owner was and make a relatively seemless move from houston. There will always be better football tacticians, and likely better personnel guys, but I am thankful for his class, leadership, and service, and hope that someone steps up and shows the class that Fish showed.

it will take a long time

before we find another guy who will mean more to this franchise and even to the city of nashville at large. the arrival and success of the Titans over the last decade has happened in lock step with the city of Nashville’s economic boom, and that’s not a coincidence. it was time for him to go, but we were incredibly lucky to have him when we did.

What?

He didn’t pick a picture of one of his leg kicks to go with the ad? Or the one of him hugging VY?

Cya Jeff – good luck out there.

We should have a gallery of photos of fisher over the years put together and available on the site. A moustachioed montage.
