Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Titans Improving On The Field And In The Stands Edition
The Tennessean has an update on the improvements to LP Field, which were approved by the Metro City Council earlier this week. All of the major improvements (most notably the huge jumbotron, elevators and sound system) are expected to be complete before Jake Locker takes the league by storm the Titans kick-off next season.
If it's a Wednesday in the fall, The Tennessean has 5 hot topics for ya.
David Climer looks at the rejuvenated Chris Johnson, who is all the sudden back on track to cross 1,100. Even crazier: if CJ keeps up his pace of the past few weeks he could top 1,500. I don't see that happening (Jacksonville and Houston can actually play defense), but if he even gets back to 1,300 again it'll be a remarkable feat considering almost all of us didn't think he'd top 700 yards on the season just a month ago.
PK responds to reader mail comparing Tim Tebow and Vince Young.
The Houston Texans have signed Jeff Garcia, but T.J. Yates is expected to start until the Texans lose and their fanbase panics at the thought of yet another Texans collapse. Sure, FO has the Texans' chances of making the playoffs at 98.3%, but if any team can wring a heart-breaking collapse from the clutches of success it's the Texans.
Jason McCourty looks like a go for Sunday, but it's still something to keep an eye on.
Brett Kern and the special teams coverage units were great last weekend in Buffalo, and here's the proof (correction below made by AW):
Buffalo had 11 possessions. All but two started
outsideinside the Buffalo 20-yard line.
The NFL regular season is headed into its final quarter, and the Titans are happily in the middle of the craziness of Wild Card season.
Former Titan Stanford Keglar worked-out for the Raiders.
KSK has the new LOLs.

"All but two started outside the Buffalo 20-yard line"
Doesn’t that mean that only 2 out of 11 were inside the 20-yard line?

looks like a typo
they only had 2 drives start beyond the 20, and one of those ended in a Fitzpatrick fumble.

If CJ even gets 1000 then i will be impressed, considering hes had like 4 games where he had 20 yards or less.

PK basically slurps Tebow some more
Tebow didn’t have that 2-4 start Young had. He walked in and has gone 6-1, with the interesting comebacks to boot.
I guess hes not counting the overtime TD run against the Texans and the Pacman assisted comeback win against the Giants. Not interesting at all.
And I wonder if Mike from New York=MCM Hall of Famer DannoE??
Tebow didn't take over an 0-6 team either

I still believe Tebow to be overrated.
Hal’s B/R article actually raises good points about the defenses he’s faced, and the QBs the Denver defense has raised haven’t exactly been the best.

I think so too
I just find it kind of weird that Tebow is such a HUGE story as if its never been done ever. Vince pretty much did the same thing with a worse (my opinion) team in a division with Peyton Manning (who they beat once that year, thanks to Bironas right?).
Yep, that was the 60-yard FG.

That's probably why he got worked-out.
The Raiders ordered a Stanford Keglar for their practice and when he showed up they asked where the hell the booze was.

Be nice.
Yates actually didn’t fair too bad. By no means does he look like he’ll be able to make any sort of impact plays for them, but he took the keys to the car and didn’t drive it off a cliff.

The analysis of how the Titans are supposed to be teams is getting so stale and old at this point....
Minimize turnovers, stop the run, pressure the quarterback.
Can we just assume that applies to any team that plays anyone at any given point and talk about something else? Is there anything else?

"There are a lot of plays to be made out there playing middle linebacker. I try to make all of them." by Colin McCarthy
Okay, this is the second time in a week I've had a fanpost/fanshot deleted because it wasn't favorable to a certain hated middle linebacker of ours.
So, the reason we’re no longer allowed anything to express negative about Ruud is because we have Colin McCarthy and we need to move on to him, right? Well, a fanshot last week got front-paged that was about a certain Eagles backup QB. Vunce isn’t even on our roster anymore. Shouldn’t we be moving on to Hass/Locker, by that logic?
If this isn’t a double standard, then please, what IS the real reason for the ban on anti-Ruud stuff?
Did his agent get in contact with MCM and threaten to sue for defamation? Is the MCM staff just tired of Ruud being talked about all-together and trying to find a reason to stop it? What’s up with this?

Well, if it's not derogatory to him personally
don’t see anything wrong with it. The problem is that people keep writing stuff that is hurtful to him and not about his play.
Well, yeah, that's why I'm confused.
The first one that was deleted was only because of its title being “Barrett Ruud Sucks”, and its contents are about how many points he’s given up on the season.
The second one, a fanshot, was a joke picture involving lolcats about his pass coverage.
Neither of this are a personal attack on Ruud. So yeah… Confused.

Hey, the first one even got a mention a few Daily Links ago in a sidenote by grams.

I can understand disallowing deragatory statements.
And I could see how on the surface, the original title of the first anti-Ruud fanpost I made could be mistaken as a personal attack against the guy as a person.
But how the hell is an lolcat picture being used as joke about a flaw in the guy’s game something that warrants deletion?
There’s shouldn’t be a strict ban on EVERYTHING that isn’t favorable to Ruud. That’s overdoing it.
