Around SBN: What If This Is It For The Celtics? End Of An Era Looming

My Observations

1. Our draft class was exciting yet again, and it looked like Morgan was doing some productive stuff. I am interested to see what the advanced metrics say.

2. As someone who was completely down on the boringness of the Munch hire, I think he has done an absolutely outstanding job getting the team to this point.

3. Hasselbeck sucks. I have not really made any judgements or assumptions about Matty since he has gotten here. However, I really think that he is not very good, and any descent defense he has seen this year he has looked quite overmatched and old. I know that the time for change is not now, amidst a chase for the playoffs, but I hope some people agree with me in the idea that he has just really not been good. Yes, he is better than KC, and he is a true professional, so I think fans may have forgotten what descent qb play is. He is not good.

4. The teams mvp is probably Cortland Finnegan, and he continues to make good physical plays all over the field, and has embraced the role of being a leader on Gray's Defense.

5. It is a real bummer that Houston did not lose today. I thought their was an outside chance that they would collapse, and that seems far more unlikely now.

6. I still hate Michael Griffin. I do not understand why broadcasters, and fans continue to praise him. He misses tackles, and likes to shy away from big hits.

Thoughts.

Agree on every point.

I think I got a mancrush on every guy from this year’s draft class. I mean, a cornerstone at DT, 2 SOLID LB’s, franchise qb who looks promising, a rotation DT who is a playmaker and a playmaker at special teams. What more can you ask?

Draft Needs for next year:
1. Address Pass Rush
2. Interior Offensive Line
3. Safety
4. Wide Reciever

I sure have forgotten what this “descent” QB play is.

I do not understand why broadcasters, and fans continue to praise him.

I’m pretty sure 3/4 of the comments towards Griff yesterday were that he sucks.

I did not listen to the broadcasters...

I was at a bar. But, Griff is looked at as a staple on our defense and seems to be regarded as above average around the league….and I do not get why.

Couldnt agree more.
Hasselbeck sucks

Also, it appears we have found ourselves a MLB for many years to come! The pieces are coming together! Draft a solid OLB to replace Witherspoon and this LB corp will be awesome in 2-3 years

did you see the thursday night philly game?

Hass is EXACTLY what we needed this year. It will reap big dividends in the future.

Yeah, Hasselbeck sucks

even though he carried our entire offense for the first half of the year.

Not sure I agree on Hass

When Britt was in the lineup, Hass looked solid. Take Britt out, you have a bunch of girly men running around catching the ball. So with a better receiving group, Hass would have made more completions. Of course, you should also remember that he’s not making too many mistakes either.

...

1. Agreed on the draft class. I love our future with these guys.

2. His 4th down conversion rate is something special too.

3. Hasselbeck carried our entire offense for over half this season. By the way, see: Ravens Week 2. If you tell me that wasn’t a decent defense I’m going to laugh you out of the room. He was awesome for over half the year and has had 3 bad weeks in a row, 2 due to weather, and now suddenly the Hass Hate Train is rolling and people are erasing the good he did earlier in the year.

4. The defensive MVP I agree is Cortland Finnegan, but again you’re selling Hasselbeck VERY short in light of his recent struggles. He did a lot for this team earlier in the year and isn’t making horrible mistakes.

5. They barely won against a Falcons squad that is a tad overrated and had one of their worst games of the season. Hell, they were a Julio Jones drop away from being tied at the end of the regulation. I still see a collapse as likely.

6. Which fans are praising Griffin? I seriously don’t see much of that.
