While I agree with Jimmy that the franchise has had a good year. We have certainly made strides, but I would also like to point out a few things.
Next year, Kenny Britt will be back. So will Matt Schaub, likely Manning/Luck, Mario Williams, and life in the NFL is such that you cant assume anything. So, what I would like to point out is that while the future for the first time in a long time looks much better than the past, we are right in the wild card hunt, and should probably go all in here.
Going all in here would mean getting on board for not just the next 3 games, but also the potential of a playoff race. There is no doubt that one of the most dynamic offensive players on the Tennessee Titan roster is Jake Locker. I see the flaws, he struggles on short throws, has struggled under center, and has struggled from inside the pocket. But, he has also figured out ways to make plays against both New Orleans and Atlanta in games the Matty has looked old and overmatched.
Other points that I think should be made about Jake. Having Jake at quarter pack should make CJ more effective. Teams have to plan a lot more for Locker than they do Matty, much the way CJs #s were always better with Vince than Kerry, I would anticipate an increase in production from CJ.
The last 2 weeks of the season Tennessee will be playing defenses that completely shut them down the first time around. While, I see the improvements that the offense has made and I think that they are all nice, I think it can be argued that the complacent move may be to start Matty. He has been lousy since Cleveland.
Btw, I was pleased with our defense today, I hope they dont let down next week, but the most important headline from this game is the question of what the Titans should do at the QB position assuming both are healthy.
As always I am curious as to what yall think.
