nope

On the short passes he was absolutely atrocious, just like he was for the Titans. As an NFL QB, you are expected to put it on the numbers (or away from coverage) if you’re passing < 5 yards. He missed at least 4 of those that I saw.

His throws down the field were fine (just like they were in TN), but he still made some really bad decisions. Like the throw to DeSean Jackson that was picked off.

The statistics are misleading.

One INT was a great throw that the receiver tipped. Another was in desperation. Also, his TD “pass” was basically a handoff.

0 TD’s and 2 INT’s gives a better feel for how he played last night. That last throw, though, was a terrible, terrible decision.

by SuperHorn on Dec 2, 2011 9:14 AM CST reply actions

All of his INTs were just shown on ESPN, except for the 1 tipped ball... they were horrible

and I actually thought the TD pass looked like a pitch.

The first one was bad, but it's hard to really know what to make of it without understanding Jackson's assignment.

The last INT was, again, in desperation. Down by 3 scores with 3 minutes to go, the Eagles had to get vertical. I don’t think that ball gets thrown in a normal situation, but who knows?

Anyhow, I thought for the majority of the game he actually looked better than he did in Tennessee. In a half a season under Andy Reid, he seems to have progressed more than he did in 5 years here. Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that he’s an emotional mess.

by SuperHorn on Dec 2, 2011 9:28 AM CST up reply actions

Well, one thing's for sure...

he’s certainly handling adversity much better than he did with us. Thing about VY, he’s got the skills (sort of reminds me of Randall Cunningham), he just doesn’t have any WRs that can catch the ball. AND…he’s lost a step or two when he scrambles.

Just not soon enough, and I sincerely doubt his short passing game will improve, i don’t think those dumpoffs really motivate him enough to want to throw right

After third interception, his head was buried in his hands and he was emotional. If he wasn’t crying, then he was on the verge of doing so.

So don’t be surprised if he goes missing again.

Because I can't help myself....

DeSean Jackson totally quit on the route on the first pick and/or it was a miscommunication. I’m not invested enough in the argument to take a screenshot, but he’s running towards Vince right before the ball comes out and then he just stops. Half the night the dude wasn’t looking for the ball. He’s totally disgruntled.

And, Riley Cooper, well, he’s Riley Cooper. He killed a drive in the red zone on his own by not catching that ball, which resulted in a pick.

DWill + Nate > Jackson + Cooper

None of this changes the fact that Vince had a bad game. The last throw alone makes it a bad day at the office….

by SuperHorn on Dec 2, 2011 11:16 AM CST up reply actions

LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Brent Celek.

That’s a lot to work with, disgruntled or not.

Riley Cooper is Vince’s new Bo Scaife. He’s locked in to someone not talented.

I'll give you McCoy. That dude is a stud. Possibly the best RB in the NFL today.

Did you catch the game last week? Jackson dropped two balls in the endzone. He’s got his head way up his ass. He’s Hands circa 2009, only a little more explosive.

by SuperHorn on Dec 2, 2011 11:27 AM CST up reply actions

I saw the Jackson drops.

Sure, they would make Vince’s stats look a lot better, but that has nothing to do with him throwing to the other team so much. I was almost surprised by the rate he’s turning the ball over.

Eh.

Production is about the same. If Jackson could keep up his end of the bargain, he would actually have better numbers with Vince.

Vince and Jackson are both one trick ponies, and that involves the deep ball. The team as a whole is probably worse off with Vince vs Vick, but for DeSean it’s probably a wash.

That is a little odd. I think it's just because he's a workaholic. That's how all great coaches are wired. Very few can have anything that resembles a normal family life because the hours are so crazy.

If he were doing something illicit like beating his wife, etc, I’d obviously feel different. But, the issues with his kids seem more about neglect because of the demands of the job. Watch the documentary on Lombardi. HIs kids say the same thing….

Point here is that I wouldn’t eliminate him based on what his sons got into. Limited family time is par for the course among elite head coaches, unfortunately.

by SuperHorn on Dec 2, 2011 12:10 PM CST up reply actions

Coming from a family with a father the neglected his kids because of "work" it his too close to home for me,

so maybe my opinion is skewed.
I just didn’t like how he pretty much wrote off his son once it started getting out in the media what was going down. Maybe he deserved it or not, but it’s not what a father does IMO.

Reid has coached 12 seasons in Philly.

He’s appeared in the playoffs in 9 of those seasons. That’s the best in the NFL over that period for franchises that don’t have Peyton Manning. I’ll also add that Reid has only had two seasons under .500. Those numbers are remarkable.

Fisher only went to the playoffs 6 out of 16 times. I’ll also add that Fisher only had 6 seasons with a record over .500.

Good point....However....if you're "too busy" for your family....

then you’re TOO BUSY!!! You need to re-arrange your schedule!! Head Coach…or no Head Coach…you have NO excuses for neglecting your loved ones!! No Head Coach (including Lombardi) would ever get to the end of his life, and say “Man, I wish I had attended more meetings and spent more time in the film room”. NO WAY…if they had any regrets at all, it would be that they did NOT spend more time with their kids when they were still young…cuz after that….IT’S TOO LATE!!
