Falcons 23 Titans 17 Snap Report

Photo

This is something we haven't talked about enough- Donnie Avery was inactive on Sunday. How bad is Donnie Avery if he can't get on the field ahead of Lavelle Hawkins. Seriously, what percentage of the plays would you have to get right to get more right than Hawkins? My guess is 75%.

Anyway, here is the snap report from the Titans loss to the Falcons (via Mike Clay):

Damian Williams enjoyed 11 targets during a 58-snap Week 11. He led the offense in both categories. Nate Washington had the more productive day, but was in on six fewer plays. Lavelle Hawkins was next among wide receivers with 48 snaps. Marc Mariani saw action on four plays and Donnie Avery did not play. Jared Cook’s 45 snaps led the tight ends, 37 of which were pass plays. Craig Stevens was in on 16 snaps and Daniel Graham handled four. Chris Johnson paced the backs with 36 snaps. Javon Ringer was in on 23 plays, all 23 of which were pass plays.

I would really like to see them cut Hawk right now. That is all.

I'd like to see Stevens getting more snaps

He doesn’t tip our hand as to whether we’re running or passing, and honestly, the drop off from Cook’s receiving skills to Stevens’ are minimal.

I just don't understand our use of avery..

He was pretty damn good for two years in stl with bulger throwing him the ball… Its inconceivable why Hawkins is perceived to be so much better by the coaching staff.

Even if he “doesn’t know the offense”, put him on the field and tell him to streak or deep post every play just to utilize his speed to take the top off the d and let dwill, hands and our TEs to get more open on the shorter stuff.

Its not like he can know any less of the playbook than hawkins…

Locker has a receiver either side;
Locker fumbles the snap;
Picks it up, sprints out to the right;
Looking;
Fires deep downfield
MAN IS WIDE OPEN!!
TOUCHDOWWWWWN TITANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it's a product of not knowing the playbook

Because Lavelle certainly showed us this week he doesn’t know it either…

Avery’s best asset has been drawing pass interference calls that he never had a chance of catching in the first place.

That's better than letting balls that you can't catch get intercepted....

Helping KB rehab.

That’s basically all this signing came down to.

Why do we sign receivers....

and let them sit the bench? It’s always seems to be the good receivers that sit the bench! Avery and Moss to be exact!

Avery got some playing time.

He sucked. I’m not sure what you think makes him “good.”

"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"
