Titans Open As A Three Point Favorite Against the Buccaneers

The opening spread for this weekend's game between the Titans and Buccaneers is Titans -3, which pretty much means the game is a pick'em. This is going to be an interesting game that we will obviously get into more as the week goes along. One of the bigger story lines for this game will be the return of Albert Haynesworth and LeGarrette Blount to LP Field. Blount never played a regular season game for this franchise, but he did have a couple of strong preseason games.
Fat Albert spent many a Sunday afternoon lying on the turf at LP Field because he was too tired to get up. That should be fun to watch in an opposing uniform.
Two more losses would pretty much eliminate the Titans from any hope of making the playoffs. That means they have to win this game because it is hard to envision any way that the Titans can beat the Saints when they come to town in week 14.

We're getting the "home team" spread.
I explained this last week but basically Vegas thinks we’re evenly matched with Tampa, but because we’re the home team we become the “favorites”. Pretty common by them to give the home team a field goal favorite all other factors being equal.

Depends on if Blount can be stopped.
They’ve also got a pretty good TE in Kellen Winslow. Bucs this year actually seem like a mirror image of us (I would say better run game for sure, and maybe better young talent overall) in that they’ve been very inconsistent week-to-week. Freeman I expected to break out, but that hasn’t happened.
I’m honestly not entirely aware of their defense beyond the immortal Barber and the guys on their line. Not the same Bucs defense from when Derrick Brooks and John Lynch were dominating.

Rooting for Dallas in that division, so was wanting an Eagles win in that game, but can’t bring myself to root for Vince again.
Understandable....I guess cuz I was one of his main supporters here...

I still root for VY. He won games for us and would still probably be doing that if it weren’t for .500 Fisher. I hope he excels elsewhere. He was just frustrated with being held back and held to a different standard than our other qb’s (Collins).

Titana are hard to predict
But I think they’ll mostly show up this weekend. In fact, my path to 8-8 for remaining games goes like W, W, L, W, L, L. My primary reason for picking that path is that by winning the next two in Tampa and Buffalo, they will get to 7-5 and get our hopes raised, then by losing 3 of the next 4 dash our hopes to the ground again. The last two losses, to make that a perfect fan torture, will be mega-losses to division rivals. To be perfect, we’ll still be in contention for a wildcard, at least theoretically, in both the two trailing mega-losses.
So there you have it. How numbertenox predicts the Titans will end tragically this season, to maximize fan sorrow.

That’s why it feels so likely to me. It’s a scenario that will tease with playoff hopes right to the end, but ultimately concludes with us being swept by both Houston and Jacksonville, only managing any division wins at all against the hapless, maningless Colts who end up with Luck as their reward. It’s like a greek tragedy. Someone will probably end up sleeping with their mother and stabbing their eyes out.

I never like a home fave of -3 with two teams being close to equal
You take the underdog all the time with a line like that and you will come out ahead in the long run. And with Tampa losing it’s last 4 in a row and yet we are still only a 3 point fave? Better hope that Vegas set this line low to try to fool people and we win by 10 because once again, it don’t look good. Take a look at the last two times we were 3 point home faves and you will see what I mean. Houston was a loser, Cincy also a loser.
