Chris Johnson finally broke free against the Panthers, but the Falcons are a much stronger run defense. (Kuharsky)

Yes, that was Chris Johnson wearing No. 28 in white Sunday. After running like Tom Wopat most of the season, Johnson finally busted out. CJ2K put a 130-spot on the ground, while getting involved in the passing game with 44 more yards. That's really all the production Tennessee needed, as the underrated defense shut down the Cam Newton and Steve Smith show. Opponent's No. 1 receivers are doing nothing against the Titans. Smith is just the latest primary option to go down, with five catches for 33 yards. Four of those went for a measly 18 yards.

Aren’t those the type of numbers you expect to see from Chris Johnson every week?

Top receiver: WR Nate Washington: With Kenny Britt on the shelf, Washington has provided Matt Hasselbeck with a savvy performer to help him out on third downs and in the red zone.

They finally got Chris Johnson going at Carolina, but now they have a tougher NFC South opponent at Atlanta. A victory there just might get them in the playoff mix.

For the most part, they beat the teams they should and lose to the teams they should. Easy enough, huh? I see probably four more losses on their schedule, if not more.

With news out of Houston that Matt Schaub may be out for the season, it will be interesting to see if the Titans can rally the troops and close the gap on the division lead. The Titans have a tough four-week schedule on the horizon, but then get the Colts and Jaguars before a season finale against Houston that may have just become a lot more interesting.

Hey, Chris Johnson showed up! Big game for the "D," as well.

Matt Hasselbeck is to the rest of the current quarterbacks in the AFC South what the Packers are to the rest of the league.

Not to mention this bit of lazy reporting:

“they beat the teams they should and lose to the teams they should.”

Uhh… Baltimore? Jacksonville?

What a moron.

Yeah

anybody paying attention at all and trying to summarize would probably go with “wildly inconsistent”. Predictable, it hasn’t been.

As much as I hate to say it

these guys are pretty much right about the titans. WAY too Inconsistent. We could beat up on all of the nfc teams all day long but it wont help if we cant beat the afc teams when it counts. it is frustrating but until I can see them knock off the Steelers or Pats which is probably who we’ll end up seeing if we can manage playoffs this year then I can’t buy what they’re selling

These guys = numbertenox, right?

Because he’s the only person on this page that spoke on our inconsistency.

That SBN idiot said we’ve been predictable, not inconsistent.

But hey, when you want to make a point, I guess you’ll use anything as a segue…

Sporting New??

They do realize it was Damian Williams and NOT Nate Washington that caught 107yds and a TD right?

beat me to it.

I benched washington on fantasy bc of the injury and rightly so. of course now i’m worried I have the wrong Titan receiver.

SB Nation doesnt even watch titans do they?

If we were to lose 4 it would be against ATL, NO, TB, and Houston. No game is ever a gimmie or a definite loss without being played. NO and Houston will be tough due ones offense and the others defense. But ATL is a tough, but winable game. TB isn’t the team they were supposed to be so the Titans have a good chance there. Buffalo seems to have lost all the momentum they had in the beginning. Just hope Bud Adams’ two little birds don’t get the Bills amped up to take the game with the Titans really personal this year. Then Indy and Jacksonville. I honestly see 3 losses there that can be wins but the team is gonna have to bring their A game which has only appeared three times (Baltimore, Carolina and Cleaveland).

Short answer for all of this: Titans have a chance but its gonna be tough to do.

Oh hai MCM

Not as tough as it seems.

10-6 will win this division if we win the division games. It might take less if the Texans completely implode.
