Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Opportunities Abound Edition
Please, please please let Colin McCarthy make some plays at MLB on Sunday. I would be so thrilled if he managed to unseat Ruud, who looks like he could miss Sunday's game with a groin injury.
Mel Kiper tabs Akeem Ayers as a rookie who could have a breakout second half to the season. He hasn't had a lot of breakdowns, but he hasn't made plays on the level we all expected either. Improved play from Ayers could help get this defense out of the gutter it's been wallowing in for far too long now.
Donnie Avery is still looking for his first catch as a Titan, and it very well could come on Sunday as Hawkins and Washington suffer through injuries. A few big plays from Avery could give the passing game the breath of fresh air we need if we're going to salvage anything out of this season.
Just to be sure, Mike Munchak made it clear that he has no interest in the (essentially) vacant coaching position at his alma mater, Penn State.
Looks like Wyatt is putting on the charm for Munch...
Are the Colts more likely to go 0-16, or the Packers go 16-0?
Former Titan Rennie Curran has changed his representation, and is apparently working out for NFL teams.

Both are very likely that the Packers go 16-0 and the Colts 0-16.
But it is unlikely that the Packers go 19-0.

The Packers won't go 16-0.
The Colts will go 0-16.
C’mon Jacksonville, you gotta lose this week. For the good of the division.

Del Rio's a bad-enough coach...
I could totally see it happening.

I feel for Rennie
He was only here for a year and then he go cut. I hope another team gives him a chance, he deserves it.

The Colts
play Jacksonville this week and the final game of the season. Those look to be about the only chances they have for a win. I’m not ready to admit Houston will have the Division sewn up week 16. If they do who knows how much resting their starters will do that game. I say they go 1-15. I say Packers go 15-1. No good reason just for the sake of making a prediction.
NO, This is not Houstons year.
Nice to see McCarthy getting a vote of confidence from Gray
You need that kind of coach-player relationship between your MLB and your D coordinator.

I liked Kiper for mentioning Ayers...
But then he went back on my shit list for saying Gabbert can actually get better.

He will give McCarthy and Avery more chances.

only reason i see them not playing McCarthy
is because ruud is the play caller on D, it would be hard for a rookie to see an dunderstand formations

I don't think that's it.
If you look at plays like SuperHorn’s latest film breakdown, etc, you see that we seem to be giving up touchdowns because of blown assignments moreso than because of bad play calls.
"Do the Titans have a miracle left in them in what has been a magical season to this point? If they do, they need it now. Christie kicks it high and short. Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25; he dishes it back to Wycheck; he throws it across the field to Dyson. 30, 40, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, endzone...touchdown, Titans! There are no flags on the field! It's a miracle! Tennessee has pulled a miracle! A miracle for the Titans!"
