If you've never been to Nashville before, you should stick around the lower Broadway area.
It’s the most “touristy” part of downtown and if you’ve never been it is worth a visit. As a local I try to avoid it, but there are a few fun places. I really like The Big Bang, a dueling piano bar right there. If you want a quintessential Nashville experience you have to stop by the Wildhorse Saloon on 2nd. Really just explore Lower Broadway and Second Avenue and you’ll find something going on, especially on a weekend.
For non-drinking and eating stuff, walk over to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and if you are interested in music at all you have to stop by the Ryman Auditorium, my favorite venue in the city and perhaps the country.
Hope you enjoy the trip, if you want anymore advice just say so, we’re friendly people here! (except StPrattrick…)

Rippy's on Broadway has a great BBQ chicken sandwich
& my fav place to go when I’m in town is on Printer’s Alley. Ms. Kelly’s & Lonnies are always fun & cheaper than the bars on Broadway & only a few blocks walk.
Coyote Ugly is fun & BB Kings is always good. Like Mr.Burgundy said, you cant go wrong with Broadway/2nd Ave. I just prefer Printers Alley.
Whatever u do, DO NOT use the elevator for the pedestrian bridge! It doubles as a homless toilet….
Before I do anything I ask myself "Would an idiot do that?" And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing.

I would strongly disagree about Rippy BBQ... but to each there own!
Another BBQ suggestion would be Jack’s BBQ on Broadway between 4th and 5th ave
Morton's Steakhouse is amazing
But be willing to open your wallet
It's all fun and games until someone gets a concussion from a stray flying footbal. *cough* Kerry *cough*
