Alright, here is the lowdown on Ricky Stanzi.
Stanzi took over for then starter Jake Christensen in 2008 in a blowout game and stole the job from him for the rest of the season. Here are his stats for the 2008 season (13 games).
Completions: 150
Attempts: 254
1956 yards
7.7 yards/attempt
14 TD's
9 INT's
150.5 yds/game
Follow me through the jump! (couldn't wait to say that)
In 2009, Stanzi lead my Hawkeyes out to a 9-0 start including wins @ Penn State, Michigan, last second win over Michigan State. He was injured in the loss to Northwestern but returned nicely in the Orange Bowl victory over Georgia Tech. He did throw 4 pick sixes in 2009, however.
Here are his stats for the 2009 season (11 games)
Completions: 171
Attempts: 304
2417 Yards
17 TD's
15 INT's
In 2010, Hawkeyes started off 6-2, but lost 3 out of their last 4 games. Stanzi had a much better season though.
Completions: 221
Attempts: 345
3004 Yards
25 TD's
4 INT's
231.1 Yards/Game
Overall summary, Stanzi is a quarterback who knows how to win and manage the game. (He's Vince and Kerry all in one!) He struggled with leading his receiver in 2009, which is why he threw so many pick sixes, but corrected that problem in 2010. It's hard to tell at this point if he would make a good NFL quarterback because his arm strength is average at best, but he has such great touch on his passes. I think just bulking up a little would improve his strength. His overall record of 26-9 at Iowa speaks for itself.
Hope this helps. Any other questions are welcomed.
ED. NOTE: danielreese05 wanted to see some Ricky Stanzi pictures. Hmmmmm.....
